Makeshift sling?

Have you made a makeshift sling? I was at my parents' and forgot to bring any kind of sling or carrier My dd very obviously needed a nap and very obviously wasn't going to take one by just me laying down with her and nursing her. (Too much excitement at Nana's house!) So we fashioned a sling out of a bedsheet, and I took a walk and she fell asleep! I wouldn't want to use that sling on a regular basis, but it did the trick!

Go you!

When I sewed together my wrap, I used one of the lengths of cloth I wasn't sewing into the wrap as a sling to hold Lina while I sewed. Does that count?

I've used big scraps of fabric to make makeshift slings, also have grabbed big scarves esp when shopping. Never tried a bedsheet.

i have made a bedsheet sling before!
i was a nanny for twins, and the parents left us in the hotel for 3 days, with just a single umbrealla stroller.
i made a sling out of the sheet, and then pushed the other baby in the stroller, up and down the halls of the hotel.
it was not the best sling ever, but it worked

I used to regularly use a very pretty pool cover up like a kanga when dd was smaller. It's one of those sarongs that's ankle length of you tie it at your waist. I got lots of comments when I wore it because it's so bright and cheerful.
