I cloth diapered my almost 7 yr old, but things have changed a bit And this time dh really wanted mostly aio's, so my main stash is bumgenius aio's. Please help me find the best wash routine. We have hard water, and a front loader. I currently use all free and clear but am willing to change if needed. I really want to avoid build up etc... Help please! http://www.mothering.com/discussions...es/redface.gif

This is the wash routine I would recommend:

1 wash in cold with 1/2 the amount of detergent indicated since you have a FL
1 wash in hot with 1/2 the amount of detergent
1 extra rinse in hot

When you do the extra rinse, boil a tea kettle full of water and put that in with the diapers for the rinse. I find that FL need a little extra water added to make sure you get all the detergent out.

For detergent, you likely won't have a problem at first, but then one day the stinkies will likely hit with ALL Free and Clear. If you want to try to avoid it altogether, I would recommend Country Save. Cotton Babies also recommends detergents like Country Save.

HTH!
