Anyone do Shettles (or some other method?)

Anyone do Shettles or some other method? We were trying to do Shettles, and I think we did it just about as perfectly as possible assuming my O date is correct, (ff only EVER gave me dashed lines not solid, so..)

If you tried a method which one did you try and what did you try for?

We were trying for a girl.

No, although I'd be curious to know if it truly boosts your odds. I was following my moon cycle and was planning on using lunar timing to try to conceive a girl, but once again (we're 3 for 3 on the surprise babies!), we didn't have the chance to employ any specific technique.

We kinda did, but then I was researching more and decided it is bogus. We had a 2-3 day cutoff, and also BD'd once about 24 hours after O. (Although I think O+12 is bogus as well.) We were also trying for a girl. We'll see!

We had sex prior to ovulation in hopes that would increase the chances of having a girl and the Chinese Calendar said I would have a girl if I got prego now. (When working in an OB office, it was never wrong with our patients!) We'll see though!

The calendar told me I would have a girl if I got pg between May and October, so I guess I am covered!:

(I actually had sex graduation night that ended up being the "time" as I ovulated 4 days later).. little do my seniors know!

Not intentionally but based on when we DTD and I ovulated it would be a boy.

With my DS and DD the Chinese Calendar said the opposite of what they were. This time it is saying girl.

So we will have to wait and see if it continues to be wrong. LOL!

Did you use the adjusted Chinese calendar? There is one out there that doesn't ask you to adjust, but afiu, Chinese people count age differently than Americans, so instead of being 33, I am actually 34. The adjusted one asks for your birthdate and long/lat before it sends you to the chart. I thought all my sons were wrong until I saw the adjusted calendar.

Okay I found what you were talking about. It got my DS right, but my DD wrong. It says for this baby it should be a girl.

Chinese Calendar

Here is my favorite Chinese Calendar site. This calendar has never been wrong for anyone I have used it one to predict their baby's sex. In my experience with this you just use your real age at the time of conception (you do not have to adjust your age like some Chinese calendars ask you to. I find this calendar to be more accurate than the websites in which you inout your info and it figures out the date for you. Good Luck! I guess we will see how accurate it is for us in a few months!:

Well..I'm the one who's not even preggo this month but i had to comment anyway! Yes! We used it w/our son and we got a boy! (obviously!) We had 2 girls first and really wanted the boy. We were willing to wait several months to conceive him so we followed almost all the steps- except i was still bfing dd. The book says you can't count on the method working if there is any bfing at all becaus it can mess up your cycle. We got preggo w/ds on the first try. It was truely awesome. And from the sounds of it you really did do it perfect to make a girl. Looking back at the times I got preggo w/my girls it fits the description in his book. I thought about trying it again but honestly right now i just want to get knocked up!

good luck! I bet it works! Oh, and the chinese calendars have always been wrong for me. W/my girls it said boy and w/my boy it said girl.

I'm curious what the Shettles methods are for a girl. If someone could shed some light that would be great!

For a boy, you try to have sex right on ovulation, have orgasm, and deposit the sperm as close to the cervix as possible. For a girl, you have sex several days before ovulation, no orgasm, and put the sperm farther away from the cervix, in order to hopefully kill off the weaker male sperm. However, if you try for a girl you also decrease your chances of getting pregnant at all. (This is a very abbreviated rundown, there's a bit more explanation out there.)

We tried for a girl, but didn't want to risk not getting pregnant, so we did end up having sex only a little more than a day before ovulation. I was also taking a calcium/magnesium supplement, which I've heard might maybe increase the chance of a girl.

Either boy or girl will be fine, I just want to have a healthy pregnancy this time.

Never specifically tried it, but DS was conceived 5 days before O, so I wouldn't have much faith in the system since by Shettles he would be a girl.

Well even when done properly (with dietary adjustments, etc) it still has a 20% failure rate, so it is not infallible.

And see that is what I did differently this time. Before I just wanted to be pregnant, so we had sex OFTEN (like everyday) and DP is GREAT, so I am pretty sure I (um, responded in kind) every time..

this time we only had sex 1 time 4 days before ovulation, I purposefully didn't orgasm, and I made DP drop his package as far from my doorstep as possible (which he usually does not do) (would that be up the drive or down the drive?? ).

I also made him drink a LOT of pineapple juice and took away his bananas.
So- hoping for a different result this go around.

ETA: to cover all his bases, dp made our priest pray over me yesterday.. I am not too sure that method will work though 'Course, knowing how my boys "behave" in church, the priest was probably saying, PLEASE PLEASE not another boy! :
