I am posting for my neighbor.... Here are the requirements They are looking to change Dr's for their DS... They are not particular if he sees a family practice or peds office. DS is 7.

Must be in the north valley.... along the Loop 101 area ( princess drive to I-17 ish) Must take Mercy care, MUST not badger, lecture, threaten about non-vax/delay vax and must have staff that understands these concepts.
Should be easy to get an appt for sick visits (does not want to see a PA but wants to see and MD for these visits). Saturday hours would be a huge plus. Does not want to have to follow recommended schedule for well child visits.
Has child with asthma and does not want to change the meds so dr must be willing to accept current meds ect.

I would refer to our office but they dont take mercycare

Here is more info, they are current being seen at CIGNA at 43rd ave and bell rd. Their son was taken in for a horrible asthma attack on Friday and the nurse (assistant??) was more concerned about the lack of vax records and gave mom a lecture on the chicken pox vax and totally overlooked the child's needs until mom got hot n heavy with her. I don't think there is as much of a problem with the dr but the staff isn't working for the family at this time.
So at this point they are not looking for another CIGNA office.

I will see if i can get more details or get her to post on here.

Dr Benita Patel has never badgered me about vaccines, solids (until 15 m but even then not badgered, just for us to watch to see what we can increase as she was 15 lb 10 oz then) even withour trip to India when DD was 10 m old. However, a partner in her office is not at all AP friendly. If you want more info let me know

Almost all my friends in that area see Dr Agarwal on Tatum just north of the 101 across from the Desert Risge shopping center. I don't know aout what ins. he takes but is worth a call.

Is Dr Agarwal one of the very few delayed vax/no vax friendly doctor's in Phoenix? I took my DD to him a couple of months ago for a cold. It was our first time and I would have expected to see him not the PA. The PA wanted to prescribe antibiotics. My daughter was only six months old and I'm not about to give her antibiotics for something as benign as a cold. I wouldn't have taken her to the doctor at all but I'm a little on the overly cautious side. I refused the prescription and she was really annoyed with me. She said that I'll have to put a humidifier in her room and rub vicks vapor rub on the bottom of her feet, which was fine with me. DD's lungs were clear and she was fine except for a cold. After we left, I made an appointment with a naturopath and he said it's not a good idea to give infants antibiotics. He was much more thorough and prescribed a thyroid protein which knocked that cold out of her in less than two days- more like 18 hours. The only problem with naturopaths is they don't take all kinds of insurance and you usually have to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed by your insurance company. We still haven't gotten reimbursed but it was worth going because he was effective and his health philosophies are consistent with my own. His name is Dr. Psenka and his office is on 32nd Street and Thunderbird.
I'll give Dr. Benita a call - I really want to find a doctor that is more natural oriented and delay vax friendly.

Montose, I use the same naturopath office. My daughter sees Dr. Orona. I recently found there is someone much closer to me so I am going to try him if he will bill insurance as out of network. I get 80% back that way for Orona's office. I also have a backup ped. but I only use them for sick visits, not well checks so the vax issue was never discussed. I went there to get my daughter checked for strep since they have much better hours and availability than the naturopath. Then I called the naturopath for advice on whether meds should be given for strep.
I heard about Dr. Agarwal last yr when I was moving to PHX area. He does not give a hard time about vaxes but the PA's are the ones you usually see for sick visits. I have started hearing that he is not sure why people think he feels it is OK not to vax. He vaxes his own kids but does not harrass others. That is why many people use him. I don't think he offer any natural remedies.

I have had good experiences with Dr. Agarwal, but if you want to see him you have to ask for him by name. I have seen the NP for well checks and she was great. My daughter sees the PA for management of her allergies and the PA has been great about working with us for non-medical remedies. I have never had medications pushed on me there. In fact, I have gotten the other impression--that they are more reluctant to prescribe meds than other docs I have seen.

We do delayed vaxing and have gotten 100% support from the staff. We don't do regular well checks and haven't gotten any grief over it. We have had an issue with our insurance not paying for some non-conventional allergy treatments and the office has been super about not badgering us about the bill. Instead they went after the insurance company on our behalf. Is the practice perfect? No--no one is, but we have had good experiences overall there.

This family still doesnt have a provider for their DS and has been making trips to the urgent care... I hate to see this little boy get treatment from an urgent care system when he can have a PCP and *I* think he needs a referral to a peds pulmonologist but first he needs a decent pcp....

If mom could pay out of pocket she would but they are stuck with Ahcccs right now... any other ideas?? is there anyone affiliated with PCH you can recommend.... I think that is going to be mom's next stop is finding someone thru there.

Dh is a nurse at PCH and I just showed him this thread. He said that Mercy Care's contract is with St. Joes, not PCH, so mom may need to look that direction to find a pulmonologist (although the docs probably go to both places). Is she having a hard time finding a pediatrician that will take Mercy care or finding one that will not get on her case about vaxing issues?

Dr Agarwal does see general peds patients. I don't know why ahcccs would put up a fuss about it. Go figure.

The mom is having a difficult time finding a ped on mercycare that wont badger about vax issues... then she needs that ped to refer her to a pulmonologist who also accepts mercycare....

I think the problem with Agarwal was the original rep the mom spoke with. Ahcccs doesnt always have the most intelligent staff on the phones...

Yesterday the mom called PCH and got some very good information, she called from my house LOL hopefully things will get better for her and her DS.

Now the battle is to call Mercycare and change her DS pcp to the new DR, Mom said, before this is all said and done her luck would be to find a job w. bene's and she would have to start all over again LOL.

Awww, poor mama! I hope she does find a job soon, despite what a pain in the rear all this work has been for her. It sounds like you are a good friend and neighbor to her.
