brief (boxer shorts) underwear for girls??

My DD1 is constantly picking at her underwear and complaining that they are in her butt. She mostly wears regular cut Hanes size 4. She wears a 4 in clothes. I have looked at the way the different brands she has fit her and other than the Faded Glory from Wal-Mart (which is awful) they all fit about the same. I don't think the crotch portion of the underwear is wide enough. When she was in a 3T she has some "boycut" fitted boxer short type underwear from Gymboree. She loved those. I've looked everywhere for them in all different brands as well as in a Gymboree outlet and online. The clerk said she doesn't think they carry them anymore. I've seen them in stores for older girls, but not for DD's size. Does anyone know where I can find these, or another remedy for DD's uncomfortable panties? I have bought a pack of Fruit of the Loom size 6 bikini cut. Maybe bigger is all we need.

It isn't the cheapest option, but we are absolutely in love with these handmade undies. (I bought them off Etsy, but her Etsy shop has no items listed right now, so I'm not sure if she's still doing Etsy or not.) If you buy a certain number of pairs (12, maybe?), she offers a discount. And you can pick all your own patterns. Last year I ordered my then-20-month-old and 3.5-year-old 5 or 6 pairs each (whatever it took to get her "wholesale pricing," and we love them. We also have 3 pair that I bought when my son first potty trained (~23 months--almost 2.5 years ago) and they have held up beautifully (and they still fit, although I ordered him slightly bigger ones last year, just so they'd last us longer).

I don't know either, but wanted to throw out another option. Last year I was FED UP with girls underwear. I was in Seattle so I hunted down the Hanna Anderson outlet and bought some of theirs. I will never change back. Even if I have to actually pay full price, it was worth it. The clerk said that they are willing to ship from the outlet store, but I think you have to call them because I have never found an option to order from it online. BTW my size 4 girl fits their size small panties VERY well. My bigger girls are in the mediums. Medium seems to fit a good range, I think they may actually wear out the underwear.

Here's another vote for Hanna Andersson Unders! I just bought some for my two girls on a whim and they both told me that these are the most comfortable underwear they have ever worn. They are really pricey, but well made and probably worth the money if they solve the problem.

another vote for Hanna Andersson. The stuff is well made, wears REALLY well and is made from organic cotton. But if you get 6 pairs, you'll be set for a couple of years.

My friend bought boys Hanes boxer briefs and dyed some and sewed ironed on little appliques(frogs, ladybugs, rainbows)on the others, for her daughter. They were precious!

I'll look at the Hanna Anderson and see if we can swing it right now. I like the little Etsy boxers, and the idea of just buying Hanes boys boxer briefs. I could get white or red and it'd be fine. Thanks. I'm willing to try a few things for her to be comfortable.

FWIW I typically buy 1 size bigger in underwear than in regular clothes. So if DD wears a 4, i buy a 6

Another vote for Hanna unders. There just is no comparison at all to other brands.

My 7 year old niece will only where boys underwear, she has been wearing them since she potty learned . She says girls underpants are too uncomfortable. Maybe give that a shot!

I usually do too, but the Hanna unders run big I think.

Definite vote for Hanna Anderson. I bought some at an outlet mall 2 years ago and I have been so unbelievably happy with them on my daughter. She is so comfortable in them. I was really hating the underwear that is currently out there...they are like teenager underwear for preschoolers! The Hannas are a thicker soft cotton that don't ride up.

They do run big. 2y DD2 for example wears a 3T and wears an x-small in hanna undies. Both my girls will only wear those undies, one size does does fit for years. My 6y wore a size small for 2 years before just now moving up to a medium, 6 pairs lasted that long and still have more then enough wear left for DD2 to get them as well!
