Name: Keri

EDD: Feb 20, or something like that

Other children and their ages: Margaret - 13, Sophia - 8, Eleanor - 5, Anna - 2

Hometown/state/province: Kansas

Occupation (SAHM or work outside the home): currently SAHM

Birth plans: unsure, we UC'd last time and it was wonderful, but I'm feeling so shocked and overwhelmed with this that I'm hiring a midwife so I don't have to think as hard about prenatal care (I can't seem to remember anything I've ever read about pregnancy right now and I don't have time to start over) We will be planning a home birth for sure, just not decided about who will be there.

Thoughts about this pregnancy: How did this happen? I was sure we were done! I really really want to be excited, but I need to get past the nausea before I can even work on that. Also, my DH and my oldest DD are awesome and I don't know what I do without their excitement and encouragement!

Name: Tashia

EDD: Late late January but I'm straddling the two DDCs because I could easily go into early February

Other children and their ages: None, this is my first!

Hometown/state/province: Los Angeles

Occupation (SAHM or work outside the home): Currently waitressing. I just graduated with a BA in Comparative Literature and I'm planning to go back for my masters in education after the LO is born

Birth plans: I'd love to be able to do a home birth but due to money issues I'm going with midwives and a hospital. I'm hoping to do most of my laboring at home, though, so that I can avoid excessive interventions.

Thoughts about this pregnancy: I'm still getting over the surprise! My husband just arrived in the US from Chile this May (basically I got knocked up the night he arrived here ) and we were just married in June. He's still not legally able to work in the US and I'm just working as a waitress, so money is tight. I WAS trying to pay off CC debt until recently, but now I'm back to paying minimums until DH finds work. We're also currently living in a 2 bedroom apartment with my brother and are under lease until a month or so after this LO is due, so timing certainly isn't ideal. But DH and I have talked about starting a family together practically since the day we met, so we're very excited despite the circumstances.

Tashia,

We were in the same boat with our first child. DH was not legally able to work for the entire pregnancy and the first 3 months of dd's life and I was a student and money was so tight I don't even know how we got by...but we did, and things are better now, B"H. It has a way of working out. Actually, our finances got a lot better when we moved back to dh's home country. Always something to think about. And I hear that Latin America has some of the best pregnancy and breastfeeding policies of anywhere in the world!
