Haven't read the whole thread but I am actively seeking out raw milk and cheeses now that I know I'm pregnant. Some of my first meals when I found out were sushi and tuna. I love kombucha and feel I need more now to keep nausea at bay. Was already avoiding caffeine and it makes me feel yucky anyway. I will also continue to include raw (farm fresh) eggs in my morning smoothies.

I miscarried my first baby so with DS1 I was crazy obsessed with the rules. By DS2 I started drinking chai tea later in my pregnancy but was still really good.

I have sucked so bad with this baby. I found out I was pregnant 8dpo, well, a day before that I ate a TON of sushi and had a beer. Then a week or so later we had sushi again. AND I ate some lunch meat on the way home (we were on vacation and that's what we packed to eat for the drive home). Then we got the worst flu ever, today is the first day in 7 days where everyone is ALMOST healthy. We were too weak to go shopping so ate take out all those days. I called my family and begged them to go shopping for me but they wouldn't because they were afraid if they came over they'd get sick, nice huh? Obviously all that fake food is not making us feel any better. We've eaten like no fruits or veggies and it's been horrible.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and we're eating healthy foods today and it's been amazing. I did worry a lot about this baby, especially because I've spotted twice and have the worst cramps ever. But in my experience with my loss and my friends losses, you can do everything right and lose your baby, you can do everything wrong and have a healthy baby. So now I'm going to just do the best I can.

Thanks Judybean-

Can you tell I get a little excitable about this?

Yes! I can tell! And I'm always for people being passionate about SOMETHING! And goodness, if it's about using common sense/thinking, oh, I'm all for it!

I think it all boils down to one basic thing: As pregnant mothers, we are EVERYTHING to the child in the womb and with that, we're going to do everything in our power to do the very best by our child(ren). That's it. We all do the best with what we can.

I can very much sympathize with mothers who have lost children and are going to do everything they can to "do things right" so that there's nothing to be blamed upon them is something goes "wrong." I really can see that. ... But, I figure there is always something to worry about

I did let myself in to the coffee shop (where I work a few hours a week... silly people let me have a key ) and I made myself a latte this morning. It was divine.

I went to a Greek restaurant last night and had Feta Cheese in the Salad and (whoops!) salmon roe spread (which I had assumed was roasted red pepper spread). EEEEEK. Also, this morning I ate fried eggs with a runny center. I think if I let myself get freaked out about everything I would be miserable and have horrible blood pressure. I am doing my best but honestly it is hard, I keep forgetting the "rules" .

nope, i never have-- but i hate seafood, eggs, and i'm not big on cheese.

lately, i've really been craving hot dogs-- odd, since i barely ever eat them. i've never really had cravings before, but this time, i have had some distinct ones, stuff i don't normally eat very often.

The "what to avoid" list changes every time I'm pregnant. As of now, I'm going for things that actually sound good. So that means I was eating greek salads with lots of feta on them for about 2 days (then they became unappealing, aw morning sickness.) I'll ask my midwife when I see her for the list, but until then I don't care.

I'm a vegetarian so that automatically limits the number of 'forbidden' foods I can eat. I eat eggs almost every day, but always cooked thoroughly.

Wow, I'm learning a lot on this board. I had no idea you couldn't eat soft cheese or alfalfa sprouts?!

ACK! I am trying so hard to avoid all of the no-no's, but there are so many that i sometimes forget! i DEFINITELY forgot about the lunch meat last time i ordered jimmy john's, and i only eat my eggs runny, which i had completely forgotten was "forbidden" until i revisited this post today. i think i've had eggs over easy three times since getting pregnant. i guess i'm going to have to switch to omelets...

QUESTION! i like lunch meat for sandwiches at work, can i heat up all of the deli pieces i have bought and put them back in the fridge for use?
