Peeking in here, anyone else with a surprise baby?

I'm due Feb 10 and still processing the whole situation. I knew it was possible (due to an "oops" 3 days before ovulation), but I just thought we'd dodge the bullet. I started to wonder when I dreamed that someone handed me this starved looking little baby (like you see on tv shows about famine stricken orphans) and I cuddled the baby into my clothes and nursed it. Then no period. Now it looks like we'll have a February surprise.

The timing isn't great financially and I really wanted another year between my current youngest and this baby. But such is life. I haven't told anyone in real life except my sister, who asked me about it. But she's almost psychic about that sort of thing so I figured she'd know anyway. I'm dreading telling dh because he's going to stress out in a big way.

Anyone else adjusting to a little surprise?

On my third surprise here!!

Yes another suprise here!

Big surprise. Spent the first three days crying and biting the heads off of anyone trying to interact with me trying to figure out if I should get an abortion. Never been pregnant before, must have totally screwed up my FAM, but I swear to god it was a dry day I had no cervical fluid. But, I am pregnant so that's that. I made an appointment at the abortion clinic here in the Netherlands where I am living (I'm from the Bay Area) for an ultrasound for next week. They have a five day waiting period. And the rest it's just been, thinking, thinking, thinking.

For the past day I've been thinking that I want to keep it. "Daddy" is praying that I'll get an abortion but I know the choice has to be based on what I want, not anyone else.

It's a surprise, I've always looked forward to getting pregnant and starting a family but I figured that I would be more prepared that I am now. So I feel like I am playing catchup. But I quit smoking, I'm eating super healthy and I think it's totally possible to get all my ducks in a row if I want before the baby comes. It's really strange being pregnant. When I took the pregnancy test I didn't feel pregnant at all. But the past few days my breasts have been killing me and I've got a great case of all day morning sickness. It's a huge adjustment, but out of most the people who I've known in the past few years of adulthood who have gotten pregnant most of their babies aren't planned either.

I guess even if I had scheduled it I still wouldn't feel ready for the responsibility, I would still feel terrified, I would still wonder what kind of mother I will be. I just have a big feeling when I go in for my ultrasound next week that I won't be booking the abortion.

oh yeah!

Surprise, shock, disbelief.. yep! We just got home May 2 with our two adopted kids from Ethiopia. Went from 3 to 5 kids overnight and a few days later I end up pregnant. It's all DH's fault too.. it was his birthday! :-)

I posted something similar about a week ago. I was scared to tell DH, but he ended up being really happy.

Ours was not a surprise exactly since we were TTC, but we've been having unprotected sex for a year so we didn't really expect it.

Dh finally noticed that I hadn't had a period lately, so I told him. He freaked out a bit, but he's good with it now. He's even been telling me to stay away from diesel fumes and things, so that makes me feel good. It wasn't nearly as bad as I had feared.

Yep, surprised here too. We were planning to wait another four or five months. I'm excited about being pregnant, but I'm bummed about the timing. Ug, February seems like such a bad time to have a baby. Freezing cold. Ice storms. Blizzards. Winter blues. Not to mention all the money I'll have to spend to cover my pregnant belly all winter. It's all good though...

Big surprise here, too. We literally had sex twice last month. Twice. Both times with condoms. Well, the second time, and I KNEW I was ovulating that day, the condom slipped off at the very end and I ended up having to fish it out. TMI, but it happened. I sat in the bathroom thinking, Well this is obviously meant to be if I end up pregnant. Hubby and I have been together 6 years and never had a condom slip off...never would have imagined we wouldn't *notice.* But here we are with a huge positive on the pee stick. Definitely pregnant.

Oooooh...you just got me thinking. We're having a homebirth and we have one of those gas fireplaces in the living room. I think I want a "fire-lite" birth for the calming feeling. During my last birth, it was fall but quite warm out. I ended up roasting and having hubby open the windows.

That happened to us once, when we made the mistake of leaving the same condom on for round two... apparently you're not supposed to do that LOL

shit, I didn't even think about the cold! Guess I need to find a place with heating if I want to do this homebirth thing.

TOTAL surprise! Baby number 5!!

Not sure if it counts as a surprise since we NPP, but we DTD a total of 3 times the entire month, so it was a bit of a shock at least...not to mention my oldest will only be 4.5 when this one is born.
