If you've received a lot of vaxes...

Thread Starter
I was vaxed on schedule as a baby (born in 1980) and have had several vaxes in the past 6 years as I've lived overseas - hep A, polio booster, oral typhoid, meningitis, yellowfever, and the flu vax 1 or 2 years.

I didnt know anything about vaxes til I was pregnant, and my 6 month old dd will not be vaxed, and I don't plan on getting any more vaxes for myself either.

I have to admit that the more I learn, the more concerned I am about the vaxes I've received, and links to early onset alzheimers and other autoimmune disorders. I haven't had any reactions to the vaccines that I've noticed.

If you've had a lot of vaxes for yourself, are you concerned about how they've impacted your health and immune system?

If there anything you can do years after the fact to strengthen your immune system or repair any possible vax damage?

I hear you! Ive had quite a few because of working in a healthcare setting and travelling overseas too.

I think the Hep B series caused alot of joint problems for me that untimately ended up with surgery. Can I prove it, no...but this is what I am convinced of.

All I can do now (or anyone is our situation) is to live as cleanly as possible. I also (up until I had my son and am BF) do colon cleanses and other cleanses regularly. I will resume these once I am done BF. One can alwys try and assist the body of ridding itself from toxins.

All you can do now if damage control and not obsess about it KWIM?

I was vaxed on schedule (though of course back then it was nothing like today). And then I had a ton more for Peace Corps.

I'm honestly not very concerned about it. My health has always been good. I don't regret any of the vaxes I got for Peace Corps.

My reasons for delaying/skipping vaxes for my kids have more to do with concern for a baby's immature system and vacines they give today that I don't consider necessary.

I am not concerned in the least.

I am more concerned about the fact that I am adopted and have NO medical history for my bilological parents then I am about vaccinations.

Vaccinations are on the bottom of my list of things to worry about. The more research I do, the more it stays there and the less concideration I give to them.

I am very worried about the possible long-term ramifications of being given so many vaccines as a child. At the top of my list of concerns is Alzheimer's and cancer.

I regret giving my oldest any (she got hep b and the first 2 sets) and I don't know if I could forgive myself if she developed leukemia or some other chronic affliction.

My youngest is completely unvaccinated, short of the vit k shot, and she is by far the healthiest in our family. The handful of illnesses that she's had have been mild and very short-lived.

I have several problems, many that are linked to being vaccinated. I cleaned up my diet, got rid of all beauty products with artificial ingredients, got rid of all non-natural cleaners, use a non-aluminum deodorant, , went off all my prescription drugs, and live as clean of a lifestyle as I can while eating a balanced diet. I grew up with debilitating asthma and allergies. My asthma and allergies have almost completely disappeared. The arthritis in my knees is still there (onset at 28 years old). And I am very worried about Alzeheimers. It runs in my family and the best thing I think I can do is what I am doing now.

I was fully vaccinated as a child. As an adult I have had the Hep B series, an MMR booster, regular ADTs and I get the 'flu vax every year. The worst reaction I've ever had was some localised tenderness or, in the case of the ADT, PAIN!! for several days.

I don't regret any of the vaccinations I have had but I also have no doubt that that has a lot to do with my lack of adverse events associated with them.

I have considered each of the vaccinations I've had in terms of the risk to me of contracting the disease but also in terms of my work. As an RN and midwife I feel an obligation to minimise the risk to my patients (and colleagues) as much as I'm able and, for me, that includes having some vaccinations to prevent spreading infection before I am aware of being infectious.

It's different for everyone of course but that's where I am with it at the moment.

I wish I had gotten measles and mumps naturally like my parents generation. I believe those are good for the immune system.

I don't really regret any of my childhood vaxes - there weren't THAT many. I do regret getting a flu shot a few years back. Had a horrible "flu-like symptoms" reaction within an hour, odd symptoms off and on for 6 months and got a dx of MS 7 months later.
My ds won't be getting any ever as long as I'm making medical decisions for him. I'm not on any MS drug, got rid of all my non-stick cookware, try to eat healthy, good supplements, no chemicals and have a good attitude about life. That's probably the most important one!

Like the OP, I was fully vaxxed as a child and have had boosters due to foreign travel. I'm one of the healthiest people I know, so, no, no worries. I rarely even catch a cold.

Nope. I have a ton due to being an RN. I don't do the yearly flu because regardless of how many flu sufferers I work with I just don't come down with the flu (knock on wood). I'm too lazy to go to employee health and get the shot, it's a waste of time. I'm rarely sick, I have a healthy immune system despite all my vaccinations.

My mother, her siblings and her parents all had the big combo shot (the kind that leaves the dent in your arm) when they immigrated to the US. Mom has nasal allergy's that she is convinced is a reaction from constant pollen/pesticide exposure as a field worker. Other than that, she's great. Grandma had a heart attack last year due to high cholesterol but she cooked with a TON of lard her entire life so it's not a surprise. Everyone else in my family is healthy.

I do believe the big dent is caused by the Smallpox vaccine not a combo vaccine. My parents (and their siblings) all have the same one from the Smallpox. My dads family is from Canada and my mom's Hungary. My mom and her sister got their vaccinations when they came to Canada, mom was 9 and her sister 3. They had a 3ed sister, she was the middle daugter. She contracted Measles when she was 2 and died from complications.

I have had several vaxes as well due to international travel. For the most part, I don't regret them; I did have a strong reaction to the yellow fever vax that sent me to the ER with breathing problems and chest pain, so I would skip that one if I could go back.

I do have severe allergies, asthma, and other signs of a whacked out immune system. However, it seems more likely that my health issues are related more to the 700 calorie/day diet her OB put her on during pregnancy. :irk

I agree that the best thing we can do now is support our health and wellness. I take l-lysine daily to boost immunity.

She has the smallpox on the left arm and a smaller scar on the right, her siblings also have it.

I used to do a lot of 'medical studies', I was in the army for a short time (they line you up like cattle and inject you numerous times with God knows what), and I got some shots when I was going to work at a group home.

I started getting symptoms of Rheumatoid arthritis (my mom has it really badly) a few years ago. I got the book Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. That book is so great, I can't help but recommend it. Following the advice, I stopped eating sugar, refined flour and other toxic stuff called 'food'. It took 5 months, but the RA went away! I also don't have problems with my blood pressure skyrocketing for no reason, and no more heart palpatations. I have way more energy and endurance than ever before.

I also read that cilantro is good at getting metals out of peripheral tissues (like nerve tissue in the brain), but it has to be fresh.

I regret my vaccines.

I had very few as a child. I would like to note I was not a healthy child (gall stones, fatigue, weight gain) but I was functioning. When I went overseas I got a MESS of shots and have no idea what they were. I do remember opting for the holistic malaria pill though. This was 10 years ago. I don't even know where I got them (my mom took me) and had no idea the controversies. A year later I was diagnosed with about all the autoimmune nondescript diseases. I couldn't walk, in horrendous pain, even more chronic fatigue. Everyone blamed it on being overseas (south africa), but I wonder more so if the US isn't to blame. Knowing what I know now I wonder how I might not have suffered so much if I had just lied or really looked into if I HAD to take these school shots to go there. I am sad to think the scientific community would do this to a person. I am not blaming the vax per se but perhaps I was one of those individuals who just couldn't handle the ammunition in vaccines. I've only now been reading as I just had a baby and dreading her 2 month wellness check up and what the dr will pull out with his needle :/

Soory you have had this experience . You are not crazy to think what you are experiencing is vaccine related. It is more than possible...why would being in SA make you come down with autoimmune disease??? Ridiculous!

AS for you new baby. Given your experiences with vaccines, I would urge you to delay all vaccines until you can inform yourself and make a choice you can feel good about. Your doctor will vaccinate on schedule unless you DON"T LET HIM!!!! If you research and decide it is the way to go, then more power to ya.
