NOT looking forward to societies 'restrictions' when you become obviously pregnant?

Like DON'T lift your child...

DON'T reach over your head (actually hollered at that in the grocery store while pregnant with my DS)

WTH are you doing drinking a PEPSI?!

You can't eat this, you can't eat that...

You can't do this you can't do that

Be careful climbing stairs

Don't even LOOK at a bicycle

Are you REALLY pushing a heavy stroller??

Now I do my best to stay safe while I'm pregnant. I don't jump out of airplanes, I don't go white water rafting or do competitive barrel racing

But for the love of all things holy...I WILL pick up both my kids...including my 36lb son if he wants to sit in the cart. So long as the grocery stores insist on putting my brand of spaghetti sauce on the top shelf I WILL reach up there and get it (I'm 5ft3in). I will have a soda a couple times a week, and maybe...just maybe a latte once in a while.

I probably won't do a lot of bike riding...which makes me sad because once again we can't use our bike trailer. Only used the dang thing ONE summer. I've been pregnant or with a very small infant every other summer.

We're a one car family and once in a while I need to go to the dollar store to get something and I will push the stroller...

I've had friends get hollered at by random people for loading groceries (OH MY GOSH, she picked up a 24-pack of bottled water!!!!!!) for pumping their gas for ordering their steak medium rare among other things.

I hate the whole...you're pregnant, lock yourself in a bubble.

Our foremothers washed laundry by hand, lifted heavy kettles of stew and rode across country in a wagon and obviously survived...we're all here

So anyone else just waiting for the DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to start??:

Oh my goodness, YES! As a nurse, there are parts of my job that can be physically taxing...yes, I'll be careful and not put myself in compromising situations, but if a patient needs help to the bathroom, I'm going to help them. If my aid needs help pulling someone up in bed, I'm going to help. If you use proper body mechanics, it's no problem. The heavy lifting of children, the things that you eat and drink (in line at Starbucks, I'm asked if I'd like to make my 2-pump iced vanilla latte a decaf...no, I'm dragging today, and I need the caffiene!). Oh, and the afore-mentioned egg situation...

I really didn't get a lot of that. One coworker always made a big deal if I had to lift something, but I assured her I was fine.

Mostly I found people were not particularly helpful or worried about my being pregnant! I could have used a little more door opening, help reaching things, etc., than I got!

Nah - I live in the country. People don't make a fuss about pregnancy. YOu don't see the pregnant animals sitting around waiting for somebody to help them. Moo... please hand me that heavy mouthful of hay.. Moo. LOL!

The Mennonite women are often out in their gardens and on their farms appearing fully loaded pregnant, or are bottling fruit all day during canning season, despite being heavily laden.

I'm not big on restrictions. I'm a little... annoyed?... because I've lost almost 31 pounds since the new year and I don't want to stop. I'm not sure how I'm not going to lose weight. I'm eating better, I'm exercising, and I always lose weight when pregnant anyway. I have 40-50 more pounds to lose. Also, I've just started running and I don't want to give it up.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I've lost 70lbs since I had Steven and so I'm really focusing on trying to maintain my weight until I'm well in my second trimester and eat healthy throughout. I'm hoping to gain a minimal amount this pregnancy (around 20#) I'm following the maintainance phase of the diet I was doing before I found out I was pregnant and I'm *still* losing weight.

Oh and *gasp* I had shrimp with butter for dinner last night LOL

People don't tend to worry around my way. In the OR when we are using Xray the techs are typically good about making sure that I have plenty of lead on, but otherwise it's no big deal. Sometimes I wish that people would pay a little more attention. I remember being 8.5 months pregnant with DS and a man didn't even ATTEMPT to hold the elevator for me when it was clear that I was draaaaaagging and would rather skip the stairs that day! :

I think during my last pregnancy no=one really did that to me, any more than I was already doing it to myself. But here's one big one... I WILL fly to LA in October for an audition. And also, if I don't get the job? I WILL fly back to try again at the end of November for a different position in the same orchestra. (That will be towards the end of the second tri.) Who says I can't advance my career too, as long as it isn't jeapordizing the baby! I hope they won't discriminate me based on my belly ....

Anettemarie I know how you feel, I was finally getting in the swing of losing the rest of my weight when this happened... I lost 7.5 pounds last month alone, I was really cruising. And now I'm not sure what to do, they say don't increase your calories during the first tri but I was only eating 1275 a day, so I should increase a little, right? I don't want to gain as much as I did last time though that's for sure...
