Yay Lindsay!!! I'm so glad that Sophia is doing better. And don't feel guilty. You're right, she's in good hands, and you need to make sure you're taking care of yourself too. And yes, sitting there crying and worrying doesn't accomplish anything. I'm hoping and praying for a fast and complete recovery so you get to take that baby home sometime soon!

Re: swaddling, as long as the baby has freedom to move hips and legs, it should be fine. Just the more traditional kind of swaddling where all their limbs are immobilized is bad for hip development.

Gotta go. River just destroyed her diaper.

I got the strength somehow to look at her and sit next to her for a long time today. I had been waiting in the nicu where I know all the nurses because the picu is loud and hectic. I thought recovery would be a piece of cake for us but they dont want to over sedate her or medicate her so she has moments when she wakes up and moves around. THOSE are the times I cant bear to see her and i flee. I felt guilty yesterday but I know shes in good hands and me forcing myself to stare at her and cry and worry isnt good for either of us.

btw, she ended up having open heart surgery., Its the fastest and easiest on a baby of her size.

Thanks for all the warm wishes, prayers, thoughts. I need them. Were slowly but surely on the way to getting her home!!:::
she's in good hands, mama. do what youcan and save your energy for when you'll really need it...taking your girl home! soon!

oh yeah!! my favorite little cousin had a baby yesterday...a girl!!! they can be friends!! and she weighed 8 pounds 1 oz....and looked bigger than miss k is now at 10 weeks!

i am so proud of her, her water broke and she labored for like 19 hours at 3, didn't let them do a CS, then finally started dilating, and had a natural birth after 26 hours of labor!!!

And she's so cute and squishy!!!!

Day three of sick house, though we actually got to sleep most of the night last night- our son didn't wake up with vomiting (like Thurs night) or delirium (like Fri night). He still has diarrhea. His fever seems finally to be gone, but he is weak, listless, and tired. It makes sense- his little 4yo body has been through a lot. I keep giving him probiotics, little mouthfuls of drinks and food, and he's just hanging out and mostly sleeping on the couch. I wish I could do more for him but I think this is about it. I'm pounding the probiotics myself, plus an herbal medication to try and prevent stomach ailments from my good friend who is studying chinese traditional medicine. So far so good for me.

I am so worried about baby getting this nasty flu too. She was so fussy this morning- but now she's been sleeping in the moby wrap for 2 hours so maybe she was just tired. Her state-sponsored health insurance (Healthy Families) is in dispute at the moment (I did fax in the "missing" information last week) and she's already been kicked off mine, so unfortunately we have the extra stress out about the thought of having to take her in for anything (we are really living hand-to-mouth as it is). Anyway, its all nerves at the moment, she's been nursing and sleeping well, and no signs of anything really wrong. I think we're just jumpy.

Lindsay, I am so glad the surgery is finally over, and that even with a tough recovery she is on her way home. I think so often of you and your family, you are such a strong momma going through this. Its going to be such an amazing joy for your family when you can finally be together at home.

What's the best way to reward an employee for working so hard and doing the job of 3 people, and sacrificing his vacation to do work when the only other person in the dept quits, and giving a raise with no pay increase- just title change and more work...so that the employee to totally burned out needing a break?

Well if you my husbands work, their solution was to fire him! Boss decided to start a new company, making the old company the first job the new company had in marketing. Boss decided he didn't want a burned out employee starting off his new company. Even though the boss was the one who burnt him out. Why bother working so hard if your reward is to get fired?

he got 4 weeks severence and 2 weeks vacation pay...lovely just lovly

Nancy, I'm starting to suspect that all your typos are deliberate, because they're always funny.

I'm using the handwriting recognition on this touchscreen (good for one hand) and sometimes I don't notice when it assumes something other than what l intend.

At least sheep have something to do with sleep...
