Best Tub?

Thread Starter
I'm 38 weeks pregnant and looking for a birth tub. We have the option of renting one for $250 - but I was wondering if there were any less expensive options. I've heard of mamas getting those "fishy" pools or blow up pools from target or walmart....any good recommendations?

What are the hookups that I will need? I'd also preferably like one with padding on the bottom.

We bought the fishy pool without a second thought...and I'm the type to over research every purchase-LOL. However, I couldn't find it in a store and I've heard that others are having the same issue. I ordered mine from www.littleants.com , it cost $19.99 plus shipping and arrived within a couple days The floor is inflatable BTW.

edited to add:

We bought a 25' drinking water quality RV hose ($8.99 at Big Lots) and dh bought a faucet adaptor at Lowe's for a few bucks. He had to take off the unscrewy screen part from the faucet (not the right terminology, but it's the best I can do right now) and he took that along to the store to get the right size adaptor.

You can buy a BPIAB for under $200, and the La Bassine is even cheaper. And then you can turn around and resell it to another HB mama, and get a chunk of the money back. Just be sure to get the liner with it.

Personally after looking over my choices and discussing them with my DH, the simple fact that the birth pools are certified to be lead, cadmium, phthalate free was enough to justify the cost for us (none of the kiddie pools are).

7 waterbirths, 6 in kiddie pool, would perfect every time.
