Salmon Recipe for Fish Hater?

I want to start eating salmon for its nutrients, but I have never been a huge fish/seafood fan (I like calamari and clam chowder, and that's about it). Friends, countrywomen, lend me your salmon recipes!

I'm not a big fish fan, but I love Salmon. I just grill it in the pan with some lemon and a dash of pepper. It's my favorite way to make it. I'm also completely uncreative in the kitchen. Sometimes I'll put in over some pasta. I toss spagetti with olive oil, fresh garlic and spinach.

Any chance you'd like it raw? I don't like cooked fish very much, but raw salmon has none of that "fishy" flavor that makes me gag. It's very mild and buttery.

Ok, I bought a half pound of salmon and am going to make it tomorrow with lemon and pepper, plus some dill and garlic.

I'm pregnant right now so no raw fish for me.

If you like clam chowder, and calamari, you would love seafood chowder, and my seafood chowder often has chunks of salmon in it. The chowder is so yummy and the salmon isn`t very fishy tasting.

4 cups chicken stock
2 cups heavy cream
1 onion whole
1 onion diced
1 head garlic
4 cloves diced
2 bay leaves
dried tarragon
seafood of choice (I like shrimp, scallops, and canned clams, as well as fish, whether it be salmon or halibut or whatever!)
bacon
Potatoes diced.
celery diced
carrots diced
cornstarch + cold milk

Bring stock to a boil and stick in an onion, a head of garlic with the end sliced off, bay leaves and 2 tsps of tarragon. Allow to simmer.

Cut bacon into small peices. Easiest if done when bacon is frozen. Cook bacon and remove from pan, leaving bacon grease. Lightly sautee your diced celery, carrots, diced onion and garlic.

Strain your stock and put back on the heat. When boiling, throw in your potatoes and after a couple min put your other veggies in. When everything is desired consistancy, add your bacon back in and add the cream. Thicken with the cornstarch and milk. Put your salmon in. Once salmon is cooked throw in seafood and turn off heat, cover and allow seafood to cook. (this keeps the seafood from overcooking.

Season with salt and pepper and serve. Yum!!!

I also love to make hollandaise and pour that over salmon. Sometimes with fresh dill... mmmmmmmmm I love salmon.

I just cooked some tonight. Also not knowing how to cook it quick and fast, I read on the internet to:

Cook in a skillet in chicken broth, white wine and water.
Add a little salt (or a lot) to taste
Add some herbs; rosemary, oregano, thyme are good ones.
Cook for 6-7 minutes till cooked through.

I added mostly chicken broth and water and used a red zinfindel which worked fine. I started the liquid heating before adding the fish and had to add more h20 and chicken broth.

My dd, a 5 yr old anti salmon lover asked for 2nds and thirds. Oh, I did add a little Lawry season salt to hers post plated.

It was pretty tender and no fish taste to me, but I do like salmon.

we eat alot of salmon. it's free! and catching it is most of our summer entertainment.

one thing you can do with canned salmon is make salmon patties with the fish, breadcrumbs, an egg, spices, onion, garlic, whatever you want really and fry them up into patties. very yummy and not too fishy.

smoked salmon is really nice and you can eat it plain, on salad, on pasta with a cream sauce, or with cream cheese for a delicious spread.

sometimes we cook salmon on the grill. we just put it on skin side up for just a few seconds and then skin side down and put some nice seasoning or bbq sauce on top.

we mostly have salmon wrapped in foil with slices of onion and garlic and this can go in the oven, on the camp fire, whatever.

i also coat salmon with a mixture of soy sauce, and blueberry jam. it's so nice. and any variation of that - soy sauce and brown sugar, teriyaki, lemon slices and jam, etc.

Fried salmon patties served on a bed of baby greens. I usually do that with leftover filets or canned salmon.

top with pesto and bake or grill

top with lemon, dill or tarragon, mayo or butter and bake or grill

there are lots of ways but these are the recipes we make most often

ETA and yeah to smoked salmon! YUM!!!

Does anyone leave the skin on and actually eat it? I leave the skin on when cooking it, but I peel it off before eating it. My friend says she eats the skin all the time. Ew?

Well I made it last night. I rinsed it off then drowned it in juice of half a fresh lemon, course sea salt, black pepper, dill, chopped onion, a piece of butter, and lemon slices. It was pretty good. Not my favourite dish ever, but good. I had my dad over and he said it was the best salmon he's ever had, though! Yay!

Anywho, MrsMike my dad ate the skin! I yelled, "DAD! You're eating the SKIN!!!!" and he just looked at me and said, "Yeah?...it's good!" Bleh!
