Can someone help me find this article?

Thread Starter
Way back in the day when I was trying to decide whether to circ or not (about 9 years ago!), I read a repost of an article from the early teens or twenties that listed all of the reasons "for" circ (all the standard reasons). The twist was that the article was arguing for circ of WOMEN. It convinced me 100% that male circ wasn't necessary, seeing how far we had come in under 100 years on female circ.

I'm not sure I'm expalining this well, but this was the article that totally turned me off of circ for my sons and I really could stand to have it to share with some friends right now, if anyone can help!

Thanks!!

Interesting! I've never read that but I'd like to. I hope someone is able to provide a link.

I have hard copies of the following articles from the 50s and 60s:

Duffy J. Masturbation and clitoridectomy. JAMA. October1963;166-168
McDonald CF. Circumcision of the female. GP. September 1958;18(3):98-99
Rathmann EG. Female circumcision, indications and a new technique. GP.September 1959;20:115-120

That's as far back as I have. I could send you phtotcopies, if you PM me your street address.

This isn't exactly what you're asking for, but I thought it might be helpful.
http://www.circumcisionquotes.com/
Historical circ. quotes, including FGM and MGM.
Also the owner of that site might be able to help you with the rest of the paper you are looking for.

Is this it? http://www.noharmm.org/CircintheFemale.htm

It's from 1915, though it doesn't list only the standard reasons. Apparently circ cured eczema and malnutrition back then...
