tell me i'm not horrible...

i keep encouraging my ds to keep the caterpillars we find in the garden in jars with a fresh kale leaf, inevitably he forgets about them and they die.

i feel sort of bad, but i guess i could be squishing them outright... i'm not sure what's worse for my karma?

Well in the grand sceem of things I'm sure there are much worse things you could be doing. However I think that you, as the adult, need to take charge of any creatures you bring into your home and make sure they are cared for.

yeah, i guess it is setting a bad precedent.

he's just so gentle and gets really upset that i hate to kill them. but they're eating my kale!

could you all relocate them to a spot that is far from the kale?

i tried to get them to live in the amish deer tongue aka grossest-lettuce-ever-that-totally-over-winters-here patch and the amish deer tongue is still bright and happy. even the freaking bugs don't like that stuff.

i actually think that he's about done with it, today i suggested he might like to watch the caterpillar in a jar and he didn't want to because they eventually die. of course, then i discreetly squished it but i guess at least he's not learning neglect?
