Having my baby in Paris

Thread Starter
Hi ladies,

I'm moving from Santa Barbara (CA) in Paris next October...and I just foud out that I'm pregnant!!

I had my first baby here and was an amazing experience...long (26 hours), natural, with a doula and no drugs. I really would love have another good experience but I have no informations about having a baby there....

Anyone has any information??? Maybe someone read the forum from France??

Thank you for any help
A.

Having just had two babies in France you will have to be a bit picky about where you go to support natural birth. An Epi is par for the course here. There are however certain hospitals that will go further to support natural birth. Sign up for a bed soon though.

Homebirth is not widely accepted but is doable. (Cora was born at home)

Check out http://www.messageparis.org/ and the LLL English Paris group.

If you're coming to Paris then I'd recommend getting into Les Bluets as soon as you can!! They are the ONLY Baby Friendly - UNICEF initiative hospital here and books up really quickly, or have a home birth with a midwife and doula but it really depends where you are going to be in Paris before choosing a midwife for homebirth, some will do homebirths but only if they are half an hour from the hospital.
