How many cloth wipes do you have?

I'm going to make mine over the next couple of days, and I'm wondering how many to make. They will be used for diapering twins and a 2 year old, plus used for cleaning faces and hands when needed.

I have 2, 18 packs of wash cloths that I was going to back with some flannel, then I was going to make about 20, 2 ply flannel wipes and then do 20 smaller wipes with baby wash cloths backed with flannel for when we are out (so they can fit in the wipes case).

So I guess that's about 60 for every day use and 20 for going out. Is that overkill, just right, or should I make more?

I have 30 wipes total. Mine are two pieces of flannel sewn together. They are just longer than a wip case and maybe an inch or so wider. I have a 2 year old and a 5 mo old and I also use them to wipe drool/spit up. I wash diapers every three days and I have never even had 2/3 of them go into a load. The closest I have ever gotten is when my baby was needing a rash cream and I lined each diaper with a wipe. Even then I didn't run out before laundry. I think you will be totally fine!

I would save the washcloths for soiled diaper changes and just make up a bunch of two ply flannel for the rest. From where I sit why make yourself more work.
Keep in mind terry likes to gunk up the aplix if your using these type of closure.

How many do we have? Alot. We use all family cloth in both bathrooms so I have many.

I have about 30 for one toddler. When the new baby comes I'll get 20-30 more. I use them for everything so I'm not worried if we end up with too many.

I think the number you said should be fine. If it were me, I wouldn't bother backing the washcloths with terry. The babies won't mind if you use them as is, and why give yourself more to do!!?? I only have about 20 for my 2 yr old, and never run out, but will need more since I'll have 2 in dipes come Aug...

What kind of washcloths are you planning to back with flannel? I also doubt it's worth the trouble to do it. I have been pleasantly surprised by the utility of standard (even cheap) baby washcloths as wipes! You can never have enough wipes, though, so perhaps leave the wipes as they are and use the flannel for more wipes.

One rule of thumb is to have one wipe for every diaper, though in the early days of messy, runny poos, 2 per dipe is a good idea. Some extra beyond that is also reasonable for those REALLY big ones! And, they're never a waste because they're good for so much.

I don't have any idea how many we have - or had! They do disappear rather like socks, but I've recently bought an extra 20 or so and it's been a good boost to our dwindling supply.

As many wipes as you have diapers, plus another dozen.

We have about 110. We started with 70 and kept running out even though we wash daily. Part of that is keeping a stash in each diaper bag. The bigger part is that DD likes to poop on the changing table so sometimes we go through 10 wipes at a change. We also use them for everything these days.
They are 8x8 double sided flannel and t-shirt knit.

You know, I had a really good reason for backing the wash cloths with flannel, although I can't remember what it was now. I think it was because the wash cloths are the super cheap kind and I felt like they wouldn't hold up to lots of use and washing but I don't know if backing them would make a difference. Plus, I was planning on cutting the wash cloths down a little because I feel like they are so big (12x12). I like to make things difficult

Thanks for all of the replies. I think we will be ok with the amt I'm planning on making, but will probably end up making more because I have extra fabric and nothing else to do with it.
