Major Lactivism rally... want to help us?? - Page 2

Doesn't Canada do this one particular day a year? Dang it, I can't remember what they call it !

I'm still subbed in but our local coalition doesn't spend all year working on it so... It is a very small affair that we pull together rather quickly in late June (now). I'll stay tuned and see if I have anything to contribute. Being involved in something this big would feel great.

since we want to have rallies in cities all over the country at the same time instead of one huge one it would be awesome if we could work with the local BFing groups in each area. since they are already established, know more about the area etc. i know many of them do their own things locally for world bfing week but maybe they would like to participate in ours as well...or combine them or something. i don't know if they would be into that or not

I would love to help out with a breastfeeding rally. Let me know how I can get started. Also, my dp and I are artistically inclined, and he is a web designer/developer. He just told me I could use him as a resource. So if that's helpful, let me know

I have a friend on mdc and irl in atlanta who I bet would also be willing to help. Please pm me if you want to work on getting some stuff together... I'm not sure where to start, but I am game for pretty much anything. I think it sounds like a splendid idea.

My local coalition puts together a one-day breastfeeding celebration at city hall during World Breastfeeding Week each year. (This year it is August 8th.) Our state's health department is a co-sponsor, and we have the participation of our local LLL as well. We usually start planning around the holidays, and it really takes us that long to put it together. We usually share information about local breastfeeding and parenting resources, offer a few tables to breastfeeding-friendly vendors, kids crafts, music, chair massage, baby-wearing demonstrations, political action, recognition for breastfeeding-friendly businesses, etc. In the past we have put together a nursing-wear fashion show, a silent auction, and a parade. I would love to have a local cafe or gallery do an art show of breastfeeding imagery.

A few years back I did Nurse Out... I think by Promom? It was a 1 day during WBW, making an effort to go out and nurse in public just going about normal business... normalizing bf in the public eye, that sort of thing. It was kind of neat, even though it was just me and another mom. We walked around a local mall with our nurslings. But it has conflicted with something else for me the last few years so I can't do it anymore.

Wow we really have some peole that have done this stuff before coming out of the wood work . Thats awesome . I but together a benfit show in 2 months but it was for my niece and we already had the funding so shooting for next year sounds realistic and awesome. I would love to be able to help in some way . I know that the Boston baby wears go to some festivils and stuff with all their baby wearing knowlage as does our local WIC ( our area WIC is one of our biggest BF sapport systems)
Any one know anyone that could offer a peek at what the theme will be next year - would we want to go along with that ?
Should we start the list of possible names here or start a name thread to keep the ideas from being lost in conversation ?
