My local coalition puts together a one-day breastfeeding celebration at city hall during World Breastfeeding Week each year. (This year it is August 8th.) Our state's health department is a co-sponsor, and we have the participation of our local LLL as well. We usually start planning around the holidays, and it really takes us that long to put it together. We usually share information about local breastfeeding and parenting resources, offer a few tables to breastfeeding-friendly vendors, kids crafts, music, chair massage, baby-wearing demonstrations, political action, recognition for breastfeeding-friendly businesses, etc. In the past we have put together a nursing-wear fashion show, a silent auction, and a parade. I would love to have a local cafe or gallery do an art show of breastfeeding imagery.
