weird backpack zipper question

So, DS has had an LLBean backpack (the littlest one) for three years now. It's in perfectly fine shape, of course. But, it seems to me that the zipper gets caught on the fabric a lot--everyday at least once. And then DS can't fix it. I'm wondering if this is just how all backpacks are and he just needs to learn to be more careful not to get the zipper caught or if some are somehow better. If some are better, what should I be looking for, or what brand is good? He'll start kindergarten in the fall and it will be more important that he's totally independant with this.

Thanks,
Catherine

My ds1 and ds2 have llbean bookbags and we don't have that problem. I had them when I was in school too and it wasn't a problem then either. I would call their customer service. Most likely they'll replace it, they have awesome customer service.

Thanks. Maybe it's a defect? I'm not sure though since it looks okay to me. I probably should have mentioned that DS does have some fine motor skills issues, so that could be part of what's going on. . . . Maybe I should try fiddling with some kid's backpacks in the store to see if I can figure it out.

Thank you!

I would call their customer service rep and if you haven't gotten an easier zipper by the time kindy starts, just let his teacher know that he has trouble with it sometimes. I'm sure she will help him. That's what kindy teachers are for!

I third the calling LLBean. They really stand behind their products and age of the item doesn't matter. It does sound like the zipper is getting caught on the fabric and I know I have had that happen sometimes (not LLBean, in general) and it is annoying. It can happen on any backpack, but since you have a great one now, you should just give them a call.

Another vote for calling them. I had read in the reviews for that backpack that some people have had that issue but it's been smooth sailing here. DD has had hers since September and it hasn't stuck once.
