I'm on a waiting list for the first Sookie Stackhouse book at my library, but it's taking too long! I know the author has several other series. Has anybody read any of the others? Are they as good as the Sookie books? I'm going to the library tomorrow and I need something good to read by the pool!

I read "Real Murders" first from the Aurora Teagarden series and I really liked it! Quick and fun read.

I *LOVE* the sookie books, so I tried reading book 1 in her Harper Connelly mysteries, Grave Sight - and I hated it. Really, really hated it. Not funny or quirky at all, just kind of blah and straightforward boring mystery. Ugh.

Hmm... Grave Sight is the one that I got from the library this morning! Haven't started it yet... oh well, the Sookie book should be in very soon!

I actually think her mystery series are far better written than the Sookie Stackhouse series (although I enjoy those, also). Unlike the previous poster, I have greatly enjoyed the Harper Connelly series (Grave Sight, etc). The Aurora Teagarden series is really well done as is the Lily Bard series. Funny bit of Trivia - there is a small crossover between the Lily Bard series and the Sookie series in I think book six(?) of the Sookie series. Anyway, I recommend all of the mystery series.

Book 5. I am reading it now and I was wondering if it was the same Lily Bard (having not read any of those books) or if she was just running out of names

I love Sookie Stackhouse. I checked out True Blood when I had read all the books up to date, but I was disappointed. Sookie is described as blonde and stacked, and I didn't think they picked an actress that really looked like that too me.. I was too distracted by her tooth gap maybe though.. There seems to be quite a following of the show on MDC, though. I read the first one from the library and then couldn't wait and bought the rest at the used book store.

I think Anna Paquin is the only thing spot on from the books to the show. Alan Ball- who does the show- is making the series his own which I like because he is adding such interesting elements to it! It's odd because usually I am peeved when the TV show or movie doesn't follow the book but in this case I think Ball has created an awesome world. I love them both.
