Be true to yourself. If you want an Ob for now, then take one. If you want a midwife for later, do that too.

I STRONGLY believe in empowering the "patient" (or mother in this case )

I really don't WANT an OB right now (or at all for that matter!)...but the midwives that I have to choose between don't do early ultrasounds, so if I want to be checked, I have to go to an OB for at least an initial visit. I have to know that everything is O.K. It's getting to where I can't concentrate on anything else...

What about a quick Urgent care facility visit? If I were worried about my spotting I'd head there first and then if they didn't do an ultrasound I'd try to make an OB appt.
