What to boost toddler night diaper with?

We use a Motherease one size with a prefold and a microfiber cloth inside for a night diaper. It's really bulky and makes the diaper not at the right height on dd's waist. She's 22months. I was thinking of buying the Motherease heavy wetters pullups, but they're so expensive I thought maybe it would be cheaper to buy some better things to boost with, slimmer and more absorbant. Can you recommend to me what you use?

Dd is potty trained in the day, so we only use night diapers anyway.

(Sorry, I didn't search the forum for previous answers as I usually do because I don't have time at the moment with dd wanting my attention!)

For the pullup style pocket trainers - 2 microfiber inserts works, a flat and an insert, a newborn prefold and an insert, the swaddlebees inserts with a microfiber one - there are a ton of options - use what you have first - old receiving blankets, t-shirts, dishtowels with an insert.......it also depends on the amount of absorbency you need
sorry not really helpful!

I usually go for things with more absorpion and less bulk. I think hemp or bamboo inserts/doublers will give you more bang for your buck. More absorbancy with less bulk.

For my 2 yo at night we use 3 inserts in a pocket diaper - 2 mf and one hemp or visa versa...sometimes we use a combo insert (mf & hemp together) plus one more insert...sometimes we use fitteds, too, and I'll add an extra bamboo doubler.

Have you looked at super dos? They are hemp and microfiber layers sewn together. Instead of being sewn doen at all sides only the ends are sewn together. The sides only half the insert are sewn together making a loop (but they fit just like a regular insert). Since they are a loop they dry quickly.

I use the loopydo (less absorbant version) at night with my 1 year old who tends to be a heavy wetter at night.

I recommend a hemp doubler. They are trim but very absorbant. I have 2 girls in night diapers. My dd1 just turned 3 and she only wears a diaper at night and my little one is 15mo. They're both pretty heavy night wetters and hemp did the trick for us. They both wear a toddler-sized pf with an infant pf trifolded like a doubler. I put the hemp under the infant pf. It works great and isn't too bulky if I fan the back of the infant pf out a little, as if I was going to pin it. I cover it all with a nylon (very trim) or wool (not as trim) pull-up cover. Of course it's bulkier than any daytime diaper, but my 3yo, who wears underwear all day, says its comfy and neither one of my girls seem to mind the size of the diaper at all. No leaks, and it's a very economical way to diaper!

Hemp

or

Bamboo -- which will be a bit trimmer

Neither will come with the dirt cheap pricetag like microfiber.

We don't use microfiber in a diaper area.

I find bamboo to be the most absorbent, a little more so than hemp.

The Super Dos look great. Does anyone know where I can buy hemp fabric and make these things myself? And I'm confused, there's hemp fleece, hemp jersey, and just hemp. Are all these boosters made of different hemps, but 100% would be best?

Hemp is thin and super absorbent. Look for hemp doubler/insert made with several layers of hemp. I don't use prefold inside the pocket 'cause it's so bulky!

Hemp Fleece
Hemp French Terry
and
Hemp Velour are actually not thin. They usually weigh in at 9-11 oz per yard.

Bamboo Fleece
Bamboo French Terry
and
Bamboo Velour are thinner than hemp and much more drapey/buttery.

Both are very absorbent and both will serve the purpose well. I just wanted to make sure you do understand what your buying. Hemp is not usually thinner than bamboo in any of the fibers I buy in rolls noted above.

I know when Jenn Owned Celtic Cloths she sold it by the yard. I don't know if the new owner sells it still or not, but it might be worth the try.

We use an indian prefold, a hemp doubler, and a cotton terry washcloth--it seems like it wouldn't hold anything--but it REALLY works--plus they are way cheap. Oh and a wool cover made from a recycled sweater.
