Second trimester spotting

I also posted about this in my DDC a few days ago.

Have you ever spotted in the second trimester? I`m 24 weeks along, the spotting started about 2-3 weeks ago. It`s just a little each time and it`s brown but just doesn`t want to go away : I have it maybe twice a week and have been to the doctor about it a couple of times. The doctor always tells me not to worry b/c my cervix is closed and baby is fine. He tells me to rest and go in if I see bright red blood.

I also have a very tight stomach that gets tighter if I walk even just a little bit. It just feels like I`m having BH contractions all the time but I`m beginning to doubt if they are real.

I`m just always stressed out about this. Don`t know where the old blood is coming from or what I`m doing wrong. I don`t do much at all, just around the house stuff. I had to stop walking b/c of the constant tightening.
Any suggestions, prayer or calming words are welcome

Hm. Sounds like you're in touch with your HCP about it. Have they done an u/s? I'd certainly ask for one if not -- just to know. I'd be curious to figure out if it was intrauterine bleeding or just a really vascular cervix or what. If you're not feeling good about it, go back to your doc and stay there until you get information that makes you feel better. Don't let him blow you off... Your feelings matter. In a situation like this, I might ask: what are my options to ease my mind? Good luck! Sounds like it's nothing to worry about, but it'd be nice to find a way to relax about it.

I have been having some of spotting too, so I know how scary it can be. My midwife has been really reassuring, saying that though people don't talk about it, spotting really happens all the time. She also said that we can treat this event as an opportunity from the universe to really connect with our babies and tell them how much we are looking forward to meeting and snuggling them.

I have been worring, too, but I'm trying to put all the energy that I can into imagining everything going well instead of not. I've decided not to ultrasound, bloodtest, etc. because I just want to stay in the trusting frame of mind.

On the other hand, I also agree that if you want reassurance from your doctor, you should be persistent and stay in the office until you get it. Don't let your doctor put you off. Having an ultrasound to put you at ease doesn't hurt a thing if that's what feels right to you.

Wishing you all the best and I'll be thinking of you and sending you peaceful, wholesome, healthy vibes.

Thank you so much
I did have an ultrasound which showed everything to be OK. Not dilated no effaced. But, you know how it goes: nobody really talks about spotting, especially not in the second trimester. I have anxiety issues and I get stressed out very easily. I also had a loss last summer and the sight of blood makes my stomach turn.

luv2mama- sorry that you are spotting too. You are right though: it makes me connect to my baby more. Otherwise, with a busy toddler it would be hard to pay attention to the "quieter" one.

Well, I`m not in my own country and I don`t speak the language here very well. I`ve been having a hard time communicating and I have a feeling that I`m not understanding everything the doctor says. My next appointment is in 3 weeks and hopefully I will have another doctor by then.

Yep I have spotting at 16 weeks.... went to the ER and they couldn't find anything wrong. Freaks me out.... It looks like you went on to have a healthy baby. Congratulations. I hope the same for my little one!

Yes, thankfully I do have a healthy baby girl, but the spotting lasted 10 weeks. It was so scary and even slight movement brought it on.
How have you been?
