We're a pretty tight group here...is anything REALLY TMI?

It seems like we've talked about just about everything...

"Funk in the trunk"
Nipple leakage
Constipation/diarrhea
Position of cervix relative to discomfort during sex
Shaved vs unshaved

I mean really, is there anything that we HAVEN'T talked about?

I just think about all the "other" people reading these threads Sort of like peeping Toms Come on out and play with us.

It might even get weirder as we get closer!!

It's so funny because most of the time I see the TMI warning, I am thinking, "Wow, my TMI radar must be really off because I wouldn't consider that TMI at all." I guess I have been de-sensitized to TMI. LOL!

LOL Yep - I'm totally desensitized to TMI too! LOL

I think.....the only thing.................no, it had to be mentioned at some point......

(pooping while pushing! LOL)

I don't think there is anything TMI btw us mamas! (Although I could be proven wrong! )

But I just had to say that the above mention is one of those things that lays there in the corner of my brain just waiting to freak me out. I'm sure by the time I am in labor I won't care, but from here the thought of pooping without meaning to, in front of others (shudder) . . . .let's just say if there was anything I could do to prevent this I'd be doing it!

i totally lol'd. it's true, we have no shame. haha.

dp and i could not get to sleep last night cause i couldn't stop farting. haha. i mean, we were like hysterical in bed.

oh the joys of pregnancy!

well now that you menitioned the fear...I will join in, besides tearing this is my other fear. Tearing might be painful and that will go away! But OMG yuck that is sooooo embarassing.

I want to avoid this, I have heard people stop eating and hope that prevents the BM, but what else can be done??? um not only that but if you are in the water and pushing...and what about the smell? OK sorry but these are the things that they really should be teaching in sex ed classes in high school. Who would have sex if they knew that they might tear and poop in front of people???

There is no such thing as TMI when talking about pregnancy

As far as bowell issues go - it is my understanding that body naturally takes care of this at the begining of birth day - and even if there are more BM's during pushing stage - so what, it's completely normal (one of the midwives I spoke to said that it only means body really is pushing correctly).

From experienced women I spoke to re: water birth, you don't even notice "floaters" if there are any - usually someone will take care of it with help of aquarium net,

Women who took castor oil to have a natural induction, report that their bowells really emptied, fast after taking that first spoon. But, cramping is also common with this.

Take care, everyone!

you know, regarding bms during birth - with my first I had diarreha EARLY in the morning (like 3am) on the day I gave birth (didn't have real labor until until later afternoon/early evening)....and with #2, my water broke so it was EXTREMELY fast - I had to poop and went at the hospital and then got in trouble from the nurse bc when she checked me after that, I was a 9! I'm sorry, I wouldn't go pushing the baby out on the pot, yk?

However, I requested ahead of time with my dh (and I'm pretty sure it's just standard procedure from anybody who knows anything about birthing) that they just DON'T tell you. I NEVER want to know. I'm perfectly happy living in ignorance on this one -really!

So - just accept that you probably will, and make sure your dh knows you DON'T ever want to know about it. Take it to the grave, mister!

Yeah, I have no idea about the pooping thing with my daughter. Don't care to know. It's no big deal to those who deliver babies, so what I don't know won't hurt me.

It's the last thing I was thinking about when giving birth, but I remember thinking about it before hand.

It happens, I did it, and no one flinched. They just fished it out of the tub.

Pooping wasn't a "fear" of mine really, but definitely a dread, if that makes any sense

But then, in my childbirth class, the instructor said "push like you're pooping, in fact if you do poop, you're probably pushing right" so when I was pushing with my first, and I pooped a little, I remember saying "ooh, I must be pushing right!" and the nurse said "yep, you're doing great".

If you deliver in a hospital, they will put lots of chux pads under you, and the nurse or OB will use the top one to wipe away any...excrement...then pull it out and there will be a nice clean one right there already. They're very smooth at doing it, too! Trust me, these nurses have seen it all

In a home birth setting, things are even more relaxed, and it's not likely that you'll have bright lights spotlighting that area, so you might not even know that you pooped! In a pool, it might be hard to tell the difference between poop and mucous floating around in the pool, your attendant will just fish it out with a little net and not mention a thing.

And about my husband...I did ask him about it later, he said that he was so focussed on my vagina and seeing the baby's hair and later the head, that he didn't even notice my butt honestly! It's not that he didn't see it, he just didn't take special note of it.

Most women will have diarrhea naturally in early labor, but I didn't either time before, so both times I did poop while pushing, but it wasn't much at all.

AND, there's a bright side to all of this...the first post partum BM can be rather...unpleasant...so if you manage to poop it all out while pushing, then at least you won't have to deal with that first BM within hours of birth! Think positives, right?!

It happened to me with my first. I was numb from the epi, had been pushing for forever, was flat on my back... seriously, it was bound to happen at some point! The nurses warned me ahead of time, and told me that if it didn't happen, I wasn't pushing right. (I am sure to make me feel better in case it did!)

Of course, hubby still giggles about it to this day, almost 8 years later. He sometimes brings it up to friends who haven't hear the story (y'know, during those obligatory discussions about childbirth with newly preggo friends), but I figure it's totally normal, and it may help people to know that if we joke about it.

That said, it didn't happen at all with 2 or 3. Of course, I learned in between that I don't have to actually "push" anything out, and that my body would take care of that when it was time. I definitely don't worry about it for this one. And even if it happened, there is so much gook and goo happening in labor and after that it's really just one little part of a big mess!

This is one fear that's easy to let go of... It's really no big deal.

I just started a thread about a weird breastfeeding dream I had last night. I'm sure it will add to the list of TMIs.

LMBO SEE?? its totally not TMI! We just ended up with a whole conversation about pooping! LMBO

So, I'll add my story - i have NO clue if I pooped with my 1st - if I did, the midwife did exactly what 2boyzmama said - took it away without my knowledge.

My 2nd and 3rd I had mega diarrhea and bm's in the 2hrs before I pushed the babes out and was totally cleaned out by the time I was pushing! No floaters in the water and none on the pad under me with me 2nd.....

My biggest fear this time is that I'll have my big ole hemmorhoid flapping its wings at whoever is delivering! LOL I only had one with my 3rd but it wasn't bothering me at time of delivery.......
