Baby carriers

Ok I am sure you guys have talked about this already but I haven't seen a thread. What carriers do you have or want and which ones don't you like. I want to see what Sept mamas are using.

With my dd we had:
A kangaroo korner sling
An ergo
A home-made moby type wrap.

Overall my fav. for long term holding(like walks and day time) was the moby. Baby felt swaddled and happy and kept her warm in the winter and supported my back the best, I used it all the way up until last summer(she was just about 2). I love all the options with wraps.
For newborns and easy quick around town in and out of the car. I loved a sling/pouch. Fits easy in bag nice in hot summer and so easy to pop on.

The ergo and me had our good days, nice to throw her on my back and be on my way but I am out of love with it. My husband loves it and will use that exclusively but I am thinking about another carrier with less buckles where I can easily get baby on my back(when the time comes).
The moby is way too much work for back holds. For those of you that have tried is the mei tai easy to get baby on the back? What other carriers do you reccomend for back holds(with out alot of buckles and straps).

I want to get a Moby wrap and a Baby Bjorn.

ETA - I have one similar to this and used it when I was a nanny last year but I didn't like it; the baby looked very uncomfortable all scrunched up in it.

For DS1 I had a pouch, ring slings, and a mei tai. Hated the pouch, loved the other two.

I loved the mei tai for back carries, but it takes practice.

I didn't have a Moby last time, so that is my new purchase for this babe. The Ergo was just catching on back then and wasn't as popular, so I might have to try one this time as well.

HATE the Baby Bjorn--plus, I've heard reports that it's not very good for baby's spine.

I have so far purchased a wrap and a sling. I wanted to make sure I had something in the house before the baby arrives.

We got a baby b'jorn with our last child and didn't get it before the birth and had to go out and buy it post partum. I didn't want to get stuck again. I plan to wear this baby as much as possible and want to be comfortable. I loved the b'jorn for walks and going out places, but not while at home. It was hard to get her out of it and in to her bed once she fell asleep.

For those of you who make ring slings, where do you get the ring?

powpow How do you like your storchenwiege wrap? They are just becoming a thing here in the US. What is the difference between this and other wraps like the moby??

I really liked reading the research about baby carriers on their web site, I see so many women out and about that look so uncomfortable or the baby is looking really wonky in the carrier but baby is not complaining because at least he/she is close to mama:

: Except the Mpby. I thought wraps were way too much work.
Bjorns are not good for babiesor for moms. Any chiro will tell you Bjorns and baby buckets are back torture.

Good to know! Scratching it off my list...NOW!

ring sling is my gig when they are little--so easy to do everything
over 20# I go for the ergo

I had a bjorn and a nojo sling to start with. Bjorn worked well for a little while but I was always worried about the dangling legs. Hated the nojo sling. Then I had a playtex hip hugger for about a week, which hurt my neck. I finally figured out that the good carriers were available online and bought an Ergo.

This time around, i want a Moby and maybe a Maya LP ring sling. I really wanted a hotsling instead og a ring sling... I like the look of them, but I know my weight could easily go up and down, and I am wondering if adjustability will make BFing easier.

I have a great ring sling, a mei tai, and a homemade wrap. I won't go with a moby because I use a RS when baby is small, and after that I don't want the stretch.

I'm thinking of getting a Calyx and a really great wrap this time around, though DS will probably be in the wrap before the baby.

Got a hotslings.

The Beco Butterfly 2 was bought off our registry :

Also registered for a Moby wrap and Babyhawk.

I got an Ellaroo cloth wrap. They come in so many awesome colors. I know the cloth ones are harder to learn to wrap with but more versitile too.

ooh! I just registered for a moby wrap-- I doubt anyone will get it for me, though. I'm hoping there might be some closeted AP folks that I know. For the most part I just get, "texmati, you are going to kill your baby." when I talk about babywearing.

Does anyone have an recommendations on slings for HOT weather? I've heard the moby is pretty warm.

I have a handmedown peanut shell (pouch sling) coming my way and then I want some sort of a mei tai type carrier as well.

We had a bjorn with our first - and I just hate almost everything about it - except the actually carrying part LOL. I hate that it doesn't really fold up, that it has all those buckles, etc etc etc.

I like the pouch sling for a multitude of reasons - like that it's only cloth, easy to pack away, like that it keeps people away from new babies. Don't really like that it's virtually impossible to wear a coat with it - and that it's not one size fits all, yk? Dh would have to have his own, I'm thinking of making a manly sized and looking one once I have the prototype in my hands, yk? LOL

So - I'm thinking the mei tai will be perfect - bc it's still all cloth - but it's adjustable AND I can wear a coat with it, yk?

We'll see.....I'm not really interested in spending $80+ on the meitai, so I have to maybe get a cheap version????
