To Do Lists - Page 2

Okay, I do need to make a "serious" list, even though my true focus is my short list above

Honestly, if I had to bring a baby home right now, we'd scramble the first day, but we'd be okay. Then again, we're pretty minimalists, though!

--Get out pack-and-play and set it up next to our bed
--Get out baby swing and bouncer and set them up (then wait to see if baby actually likes either one, or if we end up just packing them away again!)
--Dig out my pump, buy storage bags, gather up bottle supplies.
--Make this baby a new sling! That's my favorite item on this list!
--Buy diapers! We use 'sposies, so need to get some!
--Buy a mini-van (another favorite on my list just because it'll be so nice to have the extra room, but we're still figuring out how to pay for it!!! EEK!)
--Buy some sleeping bras, all mine fell apart from last time!
--Get nursing pads, I"m a big leaker!
--Buy post-partum pads for me (I might have some left, need to check)
--Find out if birthing center provides peri-bottle, witch hazel, frozen pads, and stool softener or if I need to supply them myself
--Pack labor/post partum bag
--Arrange sitter for Ian and Connor (hm, really should start thinking about this one!!)

So honestly, a lot of this can wait until a week before baby is born, but I'll probably stretch it out over the summer just so we're not rushed at all.

If I make a list, I will start hyperventilating over all that needs to be done. We just moved into a new-to-us home and the "honey do" list is plenty long without adding the baby stuff!

how are you ladies doing on your lists?

JULY

1. organize our closet
2. clear out DDs closet
3. clear out the corner around the woodstove in the living room- if I remember there's a floor there.
4. move the stuff in the corner of the kitchen, and the hexagonal table out
5. put Ellie's crate in that corner of the kitchen (this one small act MAY save some of my sanity)
6. mop and disinfect floors- I love my bleach.
7. shampoo the bathroom carpet or- rip it out and put down laminate.
8. put the laminate down in the kitchen.
9. move the wall and add a wall
10. decide about taking down the high walls separating the kitchen and living room so I can have an island and visibility from the kitchen into the the living room. I lose a little cupboard space, but I have SO many cupboards it's not too scary a thought.
11. replace DDs bed.
12. get DS toddler bed- preferably before he goes over the top rail of the crib
13. Decorate bathroom- I want a duck theme. It seems fun and happy.
14. Order SSC for baby and/or DS. Also, keep an eye out for double strollers, though I hate the things. It could be handy.

AUGUST

1. Sort and wash baby clothes (especially the gender neutral stuff!)
2. Look for a new pack and play- or a basinette. Ours is set up as a playpen for Aiden, and we will still need that safe place to put him when we shower/bathe/pee etc.
3. Set up Baby Space- probably put the crib in the room with Aiden, and the pack and play or whatever in our room. My goal is to have New Baby sleeping somewhere other than our room before 1 year. Hah.
4. Set up DDs's computer with her homeschool program, and help her structure the time and space for that.
5. Arrange for art classes and dance classes for DD. Dance? Wait, that could be dangerous.
6. Arrange for a new neuropsych exam for DD that's up to date. Consider meds if indicated (honestly, I can deal with the Asperger's stuff, but the ADD is infuriating. I nearly killed her this morning. She improves dramatically within about 20 minutes of having a cup of coffee... but it wears off fast as well. Yes, I drug my kid with coffee occasionally... it's that, or I go nuts.)

September
1. Get all caught up at the office so that I can leave at any time.
2. Have baby.
3. Yeah, those two are probably about all I'll manage that month....

My First Newborn Checklist--this is a great thread b/c I keep wondering if I am missing anything b/c this is my very first LO. We need everything. I am a little overwelmed, but I am starting to get really antsy to get everything on my list ASAP so I can relax. I don't think I am having a baby shower. My family lives 8 hours away and my best friend lives accross the country. Theres a possiblity that my closer friends might put something together, but I am not counting on it. And unfortunately I don't have the energy (being on bed rest) to plan one myself. I actually had some tears over this last night, but I'll get over it. I can get it all together on my own. And I'm sure I will get some gifts in the mail from family.

Please let me know if I am leaving out anyhting major, or if oyu think I don't have enough of one thing or too much of another. I am just making it up as I go along, trying to imagine how much of each thing is appropriate.

Lanolinize covers

Wash all the baby blankets
Make the bassinet bedding

Well, I am ready, now it is just for the nesting!

- Sell current washer
- Buy new (used) washer
- Sell all the crap that I have moved out to the driveway
- Clean out my closet, set aside post-partum outfits
- Write baby shower thank you's
- Finish up biz project(s) [this might not get done, eek!]

DH has a bunch of home/auto improvements he wants to get done... but I'm not sure how they will happen for time and money's sake....
