Kindle?

I know that there was an old thread talking about the Kindle, back when Kindle 1 and 2 were the "next big thing." Now, we have Kindle 3....

So, I wanted to renew the thread. Anyone game?

My Kindle is on it's way and I was in the Kindle bookshop today loading on a bunch of "samples" so I'll have some things to read when it gets here. I felt as excited as a kid in a candy store, especially with the free samples. I love it!

I have lots of questions, but I'll wait until my Kindle actually comes to see if I can get them answered in the User's Guide.

Did you get the Kindle 3? Mine is the 2, and I love it. The screen went screwy and they replaced it immediately- I was very impressed with the customer service.

I need to really reign myself in, or else I will stay up all night with mine.

I love my original Kindle! By Kindle 3 do you mean the DX? I like the idea of the DX, but I also like being able to toss it in my bag. I think the DX might be too big. I also have the iphone app which is great!

I have a Kindle 2 and absolutely love it. The DX seems like it would be awfully big, in my opinion, since I tend to use my Kindle out and about.

I don't have an actual Kindle but I have the Kindle for iphone App and I am LOVING it! I thought I wanted a full size kindle but I cant' justify the cost now since my phone works so well for this purpose. The text is very easy to read, and the app was free My phone fits into my back pocket, so it's perfect to read while waiting in line at the store.

I just finished reading My Sister's Keeper on it, and downloaded Family Tree and 19 Minutes. I am not sure how often I will buy an actual 'real book' anymore now that I can have them delivered instantly electronically and for even cheaper than a paper book.

They just lowered the price on the kindle 2 and I couldn't resist so I ordered it as an early bday present for myself. I didn't realize we could download free samples - fun. I'm going to read the user's guide during lunch and check things out. I can't wait -- we are so running out of rooms for books!

I bought my Kindle 2 a couple months ago. I was prepared to be kind of "eh" about it since I love my paperbacks, but now I love my Kindle! We just took a month long road trip and it was great to be able to slide the Kindle into my purse and have such a big selection of books without taking up a bunch of room in the car.

It does seem to make it a little too easy to buy books, though, which isn't great for my bank account.

totally! I was just thinking that last night. Especially w/the one click ordering. I spent $50 in just a few minutes and felt like I had nothing 'physical' to show for it I just made myself promise to not buy any more books until I finish the ones I purchased.

You know what I love? That you can read in a dark car (we were on a road trip) or a dark bedroom or hotel room w/o having to turn on a light and disturb anyone else.

It is way too easy to spend a fortune on the Kindle. One thing that has helped me is to keep an eye on all of the free books. I get the fun of shopping for books without going broke. I've also read a bunch of things I might otherwise have missed.

I've had my Kindle since March and I still feel like it's a special treat! :

I love my original Kindle. I always forget to charge it though and then I'm annoyed with myself.
