My son's birthday is fast approaching (Aug), I can not believe he will be 7! This journey of mothering my son has been more than I could have ever imagined, it is so wonderful. I just love him more with every breathe he takes, he is amazing.

Anyone else made it to 7?!

an early happy birthday to your son (and the way time flies it won't be long). Congratulations on you and your son's incredible journey and way to go following your instincts:

my oldest turned 7 in april 07. he was still nursing at least once a day. but once summer came along, we were busy with swim team and other things, he really tapered off. i think the last time he nursed was on a beach camping trip, when my youngest turned one (end of july 07). about a month after that my son still hadn't nursed so i took just him out to dinner to celebrate our nursing experience. that last year of his nursing i was nursing 4, so to have one actually wean was a little weird. the 2nd pretty much weaned about 6 mos later. he was only 6 1/2.
my 3rd is 5 and still nurses daily (twice) so i figure she'll at least nurse through kindergarten. i'm pregnant so the milk isn't always abundant

My dd nursed some at 7. Not very frequently, probably, but she knew she could ask for it anytime.

Congrats, mama! My DD is 8 yo and still nursing almost every day. An amazing and unexpected journey, to be sure....

DD once told me that she was going to continue nursing until she was 8.
Four months after she turned 7 was her last nursing, down to about once/month by the time her birthday had rolled around.

DS was 5.

my dd's 7th bday is coming up in sept. and even though its just at night for a minute or so, its still v. important for her.

it wont surprise me if she goes till she is 8.

i have no issues with it.

My oldest will be 7 in November. He doesn't nurse a whole lot but I don't see him weaning immediately either.

Congrats on 7yrs

I really needed to read all you wonderful, extended, nursing, moms celebrate the length of your children's nursing....instead of reading how I can deal with my own nursing challenges. That is what I really needed to read!! Moms who have nursed for so long, who wanted and love it!!!!! I love it too and it all passes so quickly I am done with worrying about my tandem DS at 2.5 nursing too much. Now I am going to celebrate it. I love BFing mommas!!!!!!!

congrats mama! we may make it that far, - my oldest will also be 7 in august and had pretty much weaned when he turned 6, but our 3rd little one was born in february and with the 2 others nursing he has had a few sips.....wonderful to read all you other mamas stories!!!!

my ds is 5 and he and I are fighting a not very child led battle over weaning. I want him to wean, he does NOT want to wean. I'm vaguely considering rethinking my position. Interesting to read this.

Congrats Mamas!

Congrats mamas who have gone beyond seven, or even 5 for that matter. My DS self-weaned when he was a few months shy of 6, but DD1 at past 5 is still continuing; she loves to tandem with DD2 who is 29 months old. Yes, it is a wonderful feeling and bond with children that only a mother can experience.

Congratulations mama. My daughter is now 12 1/2 so it's been a long time since I've been here in the forum. She stopped breastfeeding, by choice, at 7 1/2yrs. I just wanted to pop in real quick to express my support.

Thank you all!
He turns 7 on the 3rd of Aug. 7!!! Uh, it goes by so fast.
Child led weaning has been the best mothering decision I have made.

Wow! That's wonderful! I never made it past 3 for a lot of reasons, but now with a 9 month old DS, I can't wait to see where our jouney takes us!

Congrats!
