Best Thrift Store Day Ever!

Wahoo!

Fairbanks is really a pretty small town, so we have 1 Salvation Army and 1 Value Village. After living in Denver for a few years (with a LOT more thrift stores) I was a little disappointed in the thrift store selection here. . . until today.

My Treasures:
And we even found a sewing machine REALLY on sale at JoAnn. Then, the "dollar-fifty" store was having a half off sale! So we got laundry hampers and some cleaning stuff for $2.25. PLUS, the baby/kids consignment store has a used carseat for $30! It has a recall on it (though nothing to do with the restraint system, and there have been no deaths associated with the problem) so we're going to research it before we buy. THEN, Sears (where my DH just got hired - and an employee discount) had a great stroller and great bouncy seat on sale for GREAT prices.

The sun is shining, I've got new books from the library, we just put a frozen pizza in the oven, and I have a new remedy for heartburn that is working out pretty well. I don't know what I did to get on God's good side, but I'm sending y'all all the good vibes I can! Good luck on your own adventures!!!

we have a glider like that from ds. It was wonderful, I kept him in it right next to the bed and then I could move it around the house during the day, take to grandparents houses etc.
We'll be using it again this time.

Sounds like a great day of baby finds. It's so much fun to collect things for the baby.

As for the car seat, I would strongly discourage you from buying a used car seat. You have no way of knowing if the car seat has been in an accident, which might have left the car seat unsafe. If you're going to buy your baby only one new item, it should be a car seat. I'd suggest checking out the Family Safety forum for recommendations on the best seat for your car, for the price, etc.

I love getting great deals too! Glad to hear you found a good thrift store!

It's yard sale season and that's where I usually do my "shopping". My ds turns 4 in October so, I've been on the hunt for size 5t clothes, etc. I can get jeans for .50- $1 and shirts for .25-.50. I've been picking up a few things for the baby (another boy, so I already have lots of things) for a .25- .50 here and there. I bought an awesome sling for $5 and can't wait to try it out.

Good luck on more great finds!
