Negative RAST tests reliable?

Hi there,
I need some advice. My first child is severly allergic to everything it seems. My second child is 12 months old and just had a RAST test for the top 8 allergenic foods. His tests came back completely negative. Which thrilled me, but was very surprising to me.
I have read that a true negative is pretty reliable, but there are a lot of false positives w/ RAST and Skin testing.
I'm still so hesitant to try any of these foods in fear that the test isn't reliable. I know that there isn't one test that is 100% reliable for food allergies, but my Dr at Ntl Jewish said I could give him all these foods and probably be ok.

Anyone out there have reactions to foods that the child tested negative to w/ RAST tests?

Thanks so much,
Carrie

Has he ever been exposed to those foods at all? If not, he hasn't had the opportunity to develop antibodies (or not). He may be fine, he might not be. You won't know until you try, but that's pretty much the case for everyone.
