Do you have a name picked out yet? First name only? First and middle name?

We don't. DH and I can't seem to agree on anything.

Our name is the ONLY name that we agreed on. But now it doesn't matter, we both love it. Our middle name is almost certain, but we decided that that would be our little secret and are not telling people.. I am surprised that doing that drives people nuts, just as much as if we were keeping the first name from them.

We have a first name, and are down to several front-runners for the middle name. I think we know what we're going with for the middle, but I need to say it outloud a few hundred more times

The problem with needing to say it out loud, is like Strong Feather, we're keeping it a secret (first and middle), so I don't have many opportunities to use the name!!

Boy name was hard on us this time. Ian and Connor came so easy to us, it was agreeing on a girl name those times that was harder. This time, the girl name came pretty easily, but the boy name took a bit longer.

We have a short list that we are kicking around, but nothing set in stone. Hopefully we will be down to 2 girl and 2 boy names by September. We had names with each of the other two before I was even pg.

Nope..no name yet. I have an idea, but it has been vetoed by dh (but I still have faith it will grow on him). As a result, we have tabled the discussion for a while. I'm fully expecting baby to be born nameless (though hoping not).

we have a shortlist, but one month I will love one name and the next, yeah, not so much.

I'll probably be one of the only ones here, but I think it's a bit weird to name a baby before it actually comes out.
Kids sort of fit their names, iyswim, and the name we thought we would use for our dd was so completely NOT the name she was.

So we will probably have two names that we like and when baby comes out we will know what to name him.
Or maybe not!

I have to see the baby and get a feel for his personality. It took us two days to name ds.

See - I kind of think the opposite, the name becomes the child, yk? Grace is NOT graceful, she's a little spitfire, nor is she demure or any of the other qualities I envision when I hear the name Grace - and yet, it fits her PERFECTLY, yk? She's a total quack - she's just....Grace!

We have a first name picked out - Charlotte. We are completely stuck on a middle name. I feel like it should be something short, dh wants something that starts with a 'C' so that we can call her 'Cece' for a nickname.....He says he's having a hard time picturing a LITTLE girl named Charlotte (I have no problem here, again, I think the name becomes the child, yk?).....

anyways - I kind of like Ava? He likes Catherine (which is LONG and a C, yk?) Plus, our last name starts with a K, so man! That's a lot of those sounds, imo.

I like Chloe? or Claire? (if we MUST have a 'c').....Then there's always the 'flower' middle names in honor of Grace's obsession with calling this baby "Flower" Lily or Rose.....Maddie has no opinion.

Totally stuck. We may end up in a pinch on this one - neither of us seem too motivated to nail it down here.

We have two solid boy names. First and middle. We just can't decide and figure we'll wait and see if we have a better sense after he is born. We assume if we had another boy it would be the name we dont use. We love them both equally!

Calla? It's a flower, it's a "C" It is a hard "C", though, so might not flow with your last name... Look up other flower names that start with a "C", you might find the perfect one.

We have names we *think* we will use but we won't decide for sure until the birth.

We just cannot seem to agree on any names. Our other kids were named like right after the HPT so I am a little discouraged this time.

I wonder how the Duggar family does it? How on earth do they keep coming up with name after name...AND only using the letter J? I'm frustrated just trying to come up with a name for my third child.

Yep, we're set on both first and middle names; this baby was by FAR the easiest of all six to name -- hey, looks like we're finally getting the hang of this thing! It helps a lot that he is a boy following two girls, so we've had this boy name on a short list for quite a while now, lol!

Our naming tradition, formed over the past five kiddos, is to choose our favorite name at the time for first name and then to use a family name for the middle name. This baby is no exception. We also like to make sure the name fits it well with our other children's names.

So he will be Duncan (another British Isles name to go with Kieran and Cameron) Edmund (my stepfather's first name -- the other two boys have my father and my FIL's names, respectively.)

Since we've "peeked" with each babe (I am in the camp who really feels MORE bonded to my baby after learning the sex), we typically choose a name shortly afterwards and then call the baby by his/her name for the rest of the pg, so the baby really does become his/her name by the time of the birth.

Julia, I can tell you our Charlotte's full name, if it helps at all...
Charlotte Fiona Marie

She's our only kiddo to have TWO middle names (due to an internal family dispute -- both middle names are family names -- that I have NO intention of ever getting caught up in again; lesson learned!)

I also like:
Charlotte Elizabeth
Charlotte Rose
Charlotte Jane
Charlotte Grace
Charlotte Jolie

In general, I prefer something short paired with the name, b/c it's so long on its own. My Charlie is entering kindergarten this fall and is currently NOT thanking me much for saddling her with such a long name to spell and write, lol! Oops!

First & middle for girl, first for boy.
Yep, first and middle. Weird for us- we usually argue about names till I can't stand it anymore and am in my 3rd tri and really grouchy DH and I have opposite taste in names, seems like, and every name has been a big compromise. This time we found something that works for both of us- we're not crazy about it, I don't think, but we both like it. The kids have been calling the baby by name for 6wks since the 1st u/s. I love that part I was worried that we might need to use our boy name before Monday's u/s, just in case she turned out to be a he after all, but we definately saw girl parts several times, so our name is set in stone now

my choice was other. Immediately we knew what we would name a girl, so she is all set if she exists however, if we are having a boy we are no closer to having a name then the day i peed on the stick!
this is the down side of the surprise ):

We have a short list, but one week I liek the names on it and the next, I'm not so sure. I named my daughter just days after we found out she was a girl. This time is not so easy.
We are not even close to any sort of list
post #20 of 31
yep. as of a couple of days ago.
