Grain a day ideas....x-posted in waldorf

Hi all, I'm not sure whether this belongs here but I thought I'd try given that you might be doing it yourselves...

I thought I'd try the steiner grain a day thing (does it have a proper name?) and I'm inexperienced with a few of them and looking for ideas. Mostly for breakfast or lunches, I'm not sure I can get OH interested so it'll just be for me and DD1 during the day. Simples ideas would be great, aside from porridge or just cooking the grain and adding veggies that is. We don't have any dietary issues and we're not veggie or vegan (though we tend not to eat meat at lunch).

So any suggestions for millet, rye and corn

Being european I have to admit to being a little confused - corn means corn-on-the-cob to me - but I think in this instance it means maize?, I've only seen that in flour form here.

Rye I know I can make bread but I'm curious to find other ways to use it.

Anyhow, hit me with some ideas mamas! TIA Sadystar

I love arepas. Here is a recipe http://www.whats4eats.com/breads/arepas-recipe Just be sure you read the comments about the "cooked cornmeal". Also, like one of the comments states, you need not put these in the oven, just cook on med heat until they sound hollow inside and are browned on the outside. These are really easy once you locate the cornmeal, which may or may not be easy where you are.

I like to fill these queso fresco, or black beans (seasoned as you like) with shredded cotija. Super yum! I miss my Venezuelan with whom I would always make these :
