Taking old smoke smell out of used home?

My friend just bought a used home that's perfect for her family as far as size and layout. The only problem is it reeks of cigarette smoke from the previous owners. It has tile throughout. How does she rid the home of that smell?

Thanks!

I would suggest that she clean the walls (use a mop and bucket) with white vinegar and then air it out. If that does not work I'd try painting - much harder and more expensive I know. Good luck

Painting will get the smell out. I've done it in my house.

No smoke

Hi there.

Yes try vinegar. Put a huge pot of vinegar on the stove and warm it up, while the whole family cleans the house.

My friend had this problem and here is what she did.
Remove all curtains, and curtain rods.
Any platic. Check the fridge door lining.
Washed door frames with bleach.
Replaced all inside doors, as they will suck up any odor.
Replaced all basebords.

Cig smoke and the nigo is very hard to get rid of.
If you paint, be sure to just paint a small wall and then wait 1-2 months to see if the nigo comes through. If is does, then back to washing the walls again.

Good luck.

Thanks! I'll pass on the info to her. They do plan to paint the rooms and remove the wallpaper in the family room eventually. Hope it works. I went there today and it's very strong. I also suggested getting the a/c ducts professionally cleaned.
