I have some questions about this. I started my peas in April and transferred them a few weeks ago to 5 kg plastic buckets (I think they are like 7.5 liters), two per bucket. They have still been inside until now mostly because I've been lazy about getting them out to the balcony So now I want to put them outside, but have a couple problems.
-My plants recently started to wither a little bit, like some of the bottom leaves have shriveled up. I suspect that it might be due to underwatering since I've been afraid of drowning them in their plastic buckets, but could it also be overwatering? I've never let the soil get completely dried out (at least when I feel close to the surface).
-My balcony is south facing. Since I live in Finland this means I get a good 6-8 hours of straight-on afternoon/evening sun in the summer months, but no direct morning sunlight. I read that peas like morning sun but intense afternoon sun is not good for them. Am I just screwed? Or is there some solution.
-I was planning on constructing some rope supports for them at the back wall of my balcony, which gets the most sun. But now, since I know the afternoon sun might be too intense for them, I am unsure about putting them there. The other option would be on the front side of my balcony - the waist-height barrier is made of wire fencing material which would be perfect for them to climb up. The only problem is that it doesn't get direct sun, so they might not flower, right?
Any ideas from more experienced pea growers? Thanks!
