Controlling weight gain on Zoloft?

I was diagnosed with PPD 3 weeks ago during my two-week appointment. I feel quite lucky that my doctor caught it so early because I was feeling so miserable following the birth of my son. Now, I'm taking Zoloft and seeing a counselor, and I'm feeling a lot better already even though I think it will take quite a while to overcome PPD.

However, I am worried that the Zoloft is causing me to gain weight or at least making it impossible to shed the pregnancy pounds that I've accumulated. Does anyone here have a similar experience? Or any suggestions how to avoid the weight gain?

Zoloft can cause weight gain, weight loss, or neither. I would wait and see how it affects you before you worry. It may not affect your weight at all, or it may make you lose.

Keeping or building up muscle will help keep your metabolism running higher, so I would advise a strength training program, but wait and see and don't take on so many worries at once.

Thanks for your reply. You are probably right about not worrying about it for now. Good idea about the strength training program. Will try that as soon as I get the ok from my doctor.

Yes don't take on too much right now. You just had a baby, what, 5 weeks ago? You, by all rights, get at least 3 months to not worry about anything. Having PPD is hard enough. Do not even think about the weight stuff now, okay?
