Hello - intro and question...

I got a small skinny positive this morning at 9dpo.

I don't ovulate (or I guess I can now say - have a history of no ovulation) with many PCOS markers. I opted for acupuncture and traditional chinese medicine (+ diet and exercise) to help monitor those issues and hopefully make me regular. I have not had an ovulatory cycle since tracking it over a year ago.

I had given up hope of ovulation on this cycle and I had also told my TCM dr. that I would wait to try to conceive until after I had one complete ovulatory cycle. OOPS. I have been getting acupuncture on average every 2 weeks since November and added the TCM herb decoction about 3 months ago. I was very surprised at the day 58 ovulation (very obvious by temp rise - not something I had before), and now even more surprised at the positive pregnancy test.

now for my question, who should I call to get a blood work order? I think I would like a blood test to confirm and also check my progesterone level given my history of hormonal imbalance. I think my ND/acu is out for the rest of the week. I plan to use a midwife, but don't have a prior relationship with one...

Do you have a family doctor?

Does your ND have a partner you can see? It's really just a blood-draw so anyone can do it, it only takes a few minutes and then they call you with the results the next day.

hmmm, my ND is my family dr.

I did call them (she is the only dr. in the practice) and her receptionist said she is out today, but was going to call her at home to get her to call the order into the lab. I think that should work.

Yeah, I also had seen no ovulation on my charts (charting for 3 cycles), and called my doc and demanded lab workup. Went in to get the results the SAME DAY I got a positive test.

My numbers were pretty far off- possible PCOS also- but the doc said sometimes the body will do what it is supposed to regardless of what the numbers say.

So congrats!

I am taking progesterone atm, and it is helping a lot I think.
