how many of you are planning a homebirth, UC? or with Midwife?

Any of you dealing with possible breech and uc or hbac?

My sit. is that I have a good midwife for hospital only and a sort of attended uc situation in my back pocket... really don't want another csec.

I've researched the relevant groups and websites... so I feel pretty informed, getting ready to line up a Webster sit. Just wondering if anyone else can comiserate with my delema feelings...

Planning a hospital VBAC with a group of midwives. I have been doing lots of reading of positive VBAC birth stories, Ina May Gaskin's books, etc. Hope it works out for us!

Good Luck!

I had a hospital vbac last time with an amazing OB team and lurved it. Those Obs no longer attend births, and my local hospital is no longer as birth friendly as it was so I was planning a homebirth with midwife for this birth. However, it just wasn't a good fit and as I did more research I came to feel that a hospital setting was more appropriate given my personal birth history (a complicated labor and uncomplicated c/s for dd1, then an uncomplicated labor but complicated vaginal birth for dd2 that left both of us with physical birth trauma).... though it certainly isn't appropriate for the majority of birthing women!

So even though my vbac success chances aren't as good as they would have been with a homebirth (or with my former OBs at a truly birth affirming hospital), I'm now planning a hospital vbac with a midwife team at a hospital about a half hour away. It's not perfect, and I'm not thrilled, but it's the best compromise I can put together.

I'll have my doula from dd2's vbac again, DH is ready to fight for our birth rights at the new hospital (which is less flexible than our old hospital was about vbac options), I have friends in the post-partum wing who are willing to help out after the birth (especially helpful if I have a repreat c/s and a longer hospital stay), and my team is flexible even if they're not exactly cheerleading for vbacs.

I spent the first one and a half trimesters juggling these issues, and trying on different scenarios, and interviewing care providers, and meditating/journaling/crafting to try and reach a sense of peace with my birth plans so I really understand where you're coming from. Hang in there... read all the stories, watch the dvds and youTube videos, and listen to what you really need and want and then see where those different things are available.

I will be having my 8th VBAC, all HB's. This will be our 7th UC. I had a c/s for my first born twins, baby A was breech. All my VBACs have been vertex, but if this baby were to stay breech I would deliver him or her that way. It would not change our plans.

Planning 2nd VBAC and making it an HBAC this time around. DS was breech til about 37 weeks. I did Webster, moxibustion, accupunture and positions from spinning babies and he turned.

HB MW's aren't "allowed" to attend breech births here so if I was faced with a breech I would have to UC or hospital birth. I would choose to labor at home and then do my best to demand a breech birth at the hospital.

Planning a hospital VBAC. My OBs have been really supportive and there aren't any complications- ie breech, etc. that I know of at this point so I'm feeling pretty optimistic.
