Making a Ring Sling

I think I would like to make a ring sling. For those who have done this, is there anything I need to know? Anyone have a good pattern? It seems pretty easy to make, but I may be kidding myself. What sized rings do I need? Thanks!

These are the instructions I used: http://crunchyfootsteps.tripod.com/slingmake.html

I cut my fabric longer than suggested & folded the tail end over to make a row of pockets - super useful.

I found it difficult to find rings but you can order them online if you can't find them locally.

I would get your rings from here. I think I got the medium Aluminum ones but for thicker fabric you may need the large. I didn't use a pattern. I just bought a ridiculous long piece of gauze. Hemmed all the raw edges. I then folded it in half length wise. Then threaded one half through the rings (just make sure its long enough fabric to lay on your back to be secure), flipped the whole sling and threaded the other end (which would be the tail).

You can also go to http://www.sleepingbaby.net/

and

Lots of information out there on doing it yourself. Definitely get slingrings, like PP said and read up on what type of material to use.

I second the recommendations for SlingRings and Sleeping Baby's pattern. There's a great DIY forum at www.thebabywearer.com with lots of experienced sling makers and threads with pictures.
