Embarassed, mad, tearful - My Pity Party

Okay, so I'm just kinda feeling sorry for myself and thought someone here would be more likely to sympathize/listen and maybe understand .

So, I got a speeding ticket this morning. My first in 8 years. I was definitely speeding, but here's preggo part: I had to pee. You know the all of a sudden the baby's pressing down and I really got to pee but trying to hold my (not so kegelized) parts together for just a few more minutes. So I'm totally wrapped up in my wanting to get just another mile to my bathroom thoughts, following the car in front of me (at the proper distance, just to note), when there's the officer waiting for a naughty driver like me.

So now I have to pull over and when the officer sees my milk in the front seat, he makes some quip about me hurrying home to get it in the fridge. I say, no actually I really have to use the bathroom. I'm pretty obviously pregnant at this point and was hoping he would be understanding. Nope. Takes my info, goes back to his vehicle, takes FOREVER (in pee years) to come back with a written ticket. I'm already bawling at this point - not only can we so not afford the ticket, I'm really not wanting to pee my pants in front of someone, YK?

Here's a kicker, he not only fines me the speeding ticket but also for not wearing my contacts. Um, I had Lasik 5 years ago and told the DMV this when I renewed a few years ago, but apparently it's still on my license. The officer was nice enough, but kept trying to explain all the details of the ticket and where the court was and the process of getting a hearing, and I tried to really politely say, through the tears and snot, please I really need to use the bathroom. He keeps asking me am I okay to drive. He finally lets me go, and, um, I already HAD gone, just a wee bit.

So mortifying and mad and upset. I'm finely not crying, and figuring out how to deal. I totally get it was my fault for speeding and all, so I'm not trying to contest the ticket. I have to find the paperwork for my Lasik so at least that part will hopefully get dismissed. Best case scenario, I can get the ticket deferred so it won't go on my record and raise my insurance, but it will still cost $150. There goes the stroller I was saving for.

Now I just have to figure how to tell dh that I cost us so much money in such a stupid way. *Big sigh*

Oh, well, thanks for listening. Party's over .

It's ok, I have a much more embarrassing pee story, if that makes you feel any better...oh, and I didn't have pregnancy to blame at the time.

cops.....

sorry that you had to experience that.

I feel your pain. I got stopped earlier this spring because the officer said he didn't see my seatbelt on (as he sped past me in the opposite direction) and I did have it on (major MVA 13 years ago made me a believer). I was less than 1/2 a block from home, had a horrible cough, was still dealing with the nausea AND needing to use the bathroom as I get stress incontinence whilst sick. I peed myself before he finally let me go. I was horrified, mortified and I had the kids in the car. It still makes me angry.

Thanks for the support ladies, I'm getting over it. I'm still trying to figure how I explain the situation to the court if I ask for deferment - would really rather not talk about wetting myself that publicly .

So sorry to hear your story, Dmitrizmom, that's ridiculous. Yeah, the officer I think felt, IDK, awkward or something by the time he left, and his parting words were "Thank you for wearing your seatbelt, that's important". Um, thanks, but not really helpful.

I guess, I should feel good about supporting the local economy when city budgets are getting slashed.

how did he know you were not wearing contacts?

i'm sorry for this. i am so glad i don't drive any more, i would be an emotional mess behind the wheel.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that, sometimes I wish men could wear a watermelon on their bladder all day just so they can feel part of the sensation of needing to pee so badly!

FWIW the other night we went to a baseball game and the guy saw my indigo wild zum mist in my bag....told me I couldn't have it (the can is aluminum...mlb rules of no metal or glass). I knew the glass rule, didn't know the metal one. Mind you I was complaining to dh all the way to the stadium (from the long walk from the parking lot) that I was going to pee my pants if I didn't get to a bathroom asap. He told me I had to throw it away or take it back to my car, I had to go so badly I just threw it away, a brand new bottle, I was mad but was also in pain from having such a full bladder that I ended up tossing it and waddling to the bathroom in tears over a stupid bottle of spray <sigh> Certainly nowhere near as expensive as your speeding ticket, but it was more expensive than our seat tickets : DH was frustrated because had it been in his pocket they wouldn't have known, or if I had had the guy look in the other side of my bag UGH.

Pregnancy pee pain clouds my judgment almost daily

Oh, I am so sorry!!!! Obviously that man does not have any children or he would have understood.

you need to contest the ticket!! at least for the lasik part, but if you are going in to contest that, why not the whole thing, the guy was a jerk. Something very similar happened here, but the lady was being driven to the hospital IN LABOR, it was rush hour (which can be very bad in Boston) and her husband was driving in the break down lane and they got pulled over. I don't remember the detail exactly but something like the cop made them wait while he finished writing a ticket for another person, then doubted them when they said she was in labor, made her show him her belly or something..people we up in arms about it here!

you can read it here:

Sorry about the ticket.

I have been taking my DD to a day camp all this week (she's still too young for overnight). I have to drop her off and pick her up 7 hours later and the camp is located way on the other side of the county and it's quite the drive each way. I have to stop and pee usually on the way there, once I get there and once I get home. I pee a lot when not pregnant but right now it's pretty bad. I'm so glad it's Friday! Today is the last day of camp. I just hate it for her because she loves it.

Oh gosh I am so sorry that happened to you!

You should deffinatly contest the ticket! Hopefully the officer that gave you the ticket won't even show up and they drop the whole thing!

damn.....sorry. mean cop.

I've never had a ticket, so I'm not familiar with the process of contesting it. But, I heard from someone else that they always contest their tickets because if the cop doesn't show up, then the ticket is thrown out, and often the cops are too busy to show up. So, if you're going in to contest the contacts part anyway, go ahead and contest the speeding part! Maybe he won't be there and you'll get the whole thing thrown out Of course, if he is there, just contest the contacts part and accept the ticket.

And be sure to wear clothing that very clearly shows exactly HOW pregnant you are when you go in

i'll never forgive the officer that pulled me over the night my dad was rushed to hospital b/c his kidneys failed and i was speeding, ever so slightly, to get there before visiting hours ended. no sympathy at all. and yes, i lost my sh*t, was bawling hysterically, and still got the ticket.

and then i ahve these friends who just bat their eyelashes and get out of it.

ugh.

i feel your pain!
