Ok, so I freaked a bit last night when I found a significant amount of cervical mucous when I went to pee. No blood, just a large really tough mass. Could this be my plug? I emailed my midwife to told me to rest, hydrate and abstain from intercourse. Has anything like this happened to any of you Mamas?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

The mucus plug can regenerate itself. It's common to have bits and pieces come out before your due date. I'd do what your midwives said. With DD1 I lost mine for a couple weeks before she was actually born. As long as it isn't true bloody show you should be fine though.

I lost mine around this time with my last pregnancy and it grew back. I was in Walmart late in the evening and shopping with DH for baby supplies, and I suddenly I found my pants very wet, not the usual pregnancy wet, and urine. It was wet and clear and kept dripping out of my vagina. I called my midwife and got home quick. Luckily I was wearing a long coat and I didn't embarrass myself in the store.
I was checked out the next day by my midwife and I was all good. I stopped dripping liquid by the time I got home from the store that evening, so I must have healed up.
I didn't have my daughter for atleast another month.

It's very possible to lose it way before you go into labour. I remember reading that it takes a matter of days for it to fully "grow" back, and that unless you have a bloody show, it's not necessarily indicative of instant labour. I, personally, have not lost it early; usually days within labour.

I lost a bit of my mucous plug about a month ago when I had a UTI and lots of cramps/contractions. I think it was just because my cervix started to dialte a bit and it dislodged itself. When the UTI cleared up my cervix closed back up and I assume my plug is back too. Have you been extra crampy? Any signs of a UTI? They are the most common cause of PTL.

I don't think I have a UTI, but I know the symptoms in pregnancy can be subtle. I did leave a urine sample at my prenatal on Wed so I assume they would catch it there if I do. Otherwise, no cramping or bloody show. It just really startled me since I've only seen that at the start of labor.
