I have a solarveil ring sling that works great--dries out immediately, doesn't get heavy.

Nowadays I believe they make solarveil wraps and solarveil mei tais too.

I hardly ever use synthetic fabrics, though. I've wondered if a short, thin wrap (like an EllaRoo) would work well enough. I'll have to try it when my little one gets here (or maybe a little later, since he's coming in December : )!

lots of options. there are ring slings and mei tais made from solarveil and solarweave, ring slings from cotton mesh. and gypsymama/wrapsody makes a water wrap. all are very lightweight and dry almost immediately. solarveil isn't the cushiest fabric, but it is almost like it doesn't get wet it dries so fast, and it also has sun protection. there are also solarveil pouches, i think, out there too. lots of solarveil stuff lately on fsot at thebabywearer.com

a cotton gauze wrap would probably work, but it would take longer to dry and the fabric would likely sag once wet requiring you to retie. but you can get gauze really cheap at the fabric store, and the regular width of fabric on the bolt would make 2 wraps if you cut it lengthwise down the middle.

Ok, I'll just second pixiepunk and then post my previous reply:

My skin is really sensitive in the sun and I've found solarveil to just be too scratchy. I have an adjustible pouch from chicslings in solarweave (like men's bathing suit material) and that might make for a pretty ok wrap. I do think that even gauze would retain a lot of water - and esp. wrapped might not dry fast enough. Our final solution was a polyester mesh ringsling from taylormade - also nice because it's quicker in/out than a wrap and we can trade kids more easily (we have a pool, so water-wearing is a big issue round here ). But it has no sun protection - if that's a concern.

I've always made home made Pouches adn Ring Slings out of Solarveil. That stuff is awesome! I still have a bunch from my babywearing business days that I can't seem to part with. You can find just about every style of carrier made from this stuff.
