Lavender Essential Oil Recipe??

Does anyone know how to make homemade Lavender Essential Oils?

I have been googling with not much luck...

what kind of oil do I use?

You can't make essential oils at home as far as I know, they are steam distilled with special equipment. You can make infusion oils though. Dry the herb, sterilize a jar by boiling it 5-10 mins and letting it air dry. Add the dried herb (the lavender in this case), then fill the jar completely with oil: olive (NOT extra virgin, too strong smelling), or grapeseed oil may work well. Stir gently to remove any air bubbles. Close it up and leave it in the dark for 2-6 weeks, shaking it up every now and then. Then strain it through clean muslin (that thin cotton fabric), maybe add some Vitamin E oil for longevity, and close it up in a glass jar or bottle.

And it takes a LLLOOTTT of flowers to make essential oils I would do infused as well.

Safflower is a nice oil for infusing IMO

thanks so much!!! this is awesome info
we have a TON of lavender at my work
and I wanted to make this for the residents with alzheimers for their rooms because I have read that it is a very calming scent...

If you have the actual plants, not just dried flowers, you could try making lavender wands. They might be more user friendly since they can just hang in the room or go in a drawer or by a pillow.
