Best cloth diaper/tips for cord healing

What is the best cloth diaper/method for when the cord is healing? We are expecting an 8-11 pounder if genetics are right, so newborn sizes are out.

Thanks!

Update: okay, I've been schooled about NB sizes. My first nephew out grew NB size clothes in one week, and the rest of my nephews skipped that size altogether, so I thought diaper sizes would be the same for bigger babes. I am a newbie! I still would like recs on good cloth diapers for cord healing if anyone can help, though. Thanks!

My 8 pounder actually fit great in his NB diapers (KL 0s and NB covers) up until 10 or 11 pounds... and they were the only thing that didn't bother the cord!! What options have you been thinking of?

I have no idea where to start. I was going to buy an assortment of AIOs and pocket dipes from Etsy stores or wherever I can find a good deal, but then the cord thing dawned on me. I will also have a supply of small gdiapers from my shower.

We mostly use prefolds and covers in the newborn stage. The covers I like best while the umbilical cord is healing are the Bummis Original and Cotton Original (aka Swimmi); the front panel can fold down below the belly button.

I agree that newborn sized dipes will fit a child...DD is 15lbs and JUST outgrew the kissaluvs 0's.

For covers we like the Proraps newborn size with a kissaluvs fitted underneath. Both have cord cutouts. We'd still have a little irritation from the covers, but it was minor.

You would have to have an 11 or 12 lb baby to start in smalls. Dd was 8 lbs and still fit in her NB diapers at 3-4 months (14 lbs.)

I used kissaluvs 0 and sometimes prefolds (when the KLs were washing) with a NB prorap cover. A little irritation now and then; just have to watch the adjustment of the cover. She was 8 pounds 4 ounces at birth and is still in the KLs at 10+ pounds (she was 10# at her six week appt; that was a month ago).

She's outgrown the NB cover, BTW.

DD also outgrew the Proraps covers before the Kissaluvs dipes.

My son was only 6 lb 5 oz at birth, and he grew out of the XS Prowrap covers within 3 weeks! Granted, he was gaining weight really quickly then, but he still only weighed about 9 lb when the Prowraps became to tight. I think a lot of it depends on the shape of the baby...more than the weight (skinny & long, short & chubby, etc.). We stopped using the NB prefolds from GMD around 4 weeks, I think.
