I remember that a bunch of us are having baby showers this weekend and just wanted to wish everyone a happy shower! Mine is tomorrow. I'm hoping it is as laid back as I anticipate.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

How did your's go sunshynbaby?? I hope it was fantastic!
We had two parties yesterday, we had our "shower" and our "unshower". Basically my Mom/Sister really wanted to host a pre-shower for me when my BFF wasn't able to, because she lives out of town and is getting married in a few weeks. But they wanted to hold it at my house and then mostly only invite my friends because my cousin wants to host an "after the baby arrives shower" (this became a bit of a hang up for me, but so many people kept insisting, I gave in). Basically I have no idea, but I figured I could have some people over and many really wanted to come so we had a small lunch shower.
I want to say I am very lucky to have a friend with a 2.5 year old who is giving me tons of stuff so I did not want people to feel they had to bring us anything really. So I also wanted to have a fun hang out party to just get to spend time with our friends. I told everyone no presents, but if they wanted instead of cards to bring a new or used book with a note for the baby. Well everyone went a little nuts and spoiled us rotten.
The books were a huge hit and this baby has the start of the most amazing library and so many thoughtful notes from everyone. They were extra fun since you could see everyone's personalities in their choices. I love the books!
We had an amazing time with people in and out all day. We got to hang out with our friends who live further away who we don't always get to see, and some of our super busy local friends who are hard to see because of jobs. Overall I could not have asked for a better day. This is a big deal since I stressed about people even being able to make it out and seeing how many people were able to was so heartwarming. Seriously I am still in happy mode
:, I love our friends and it was a better day then I could have hoped for.
Sorry, I am all gushy, but it really was great, I hope everyone had a great weekend!! Now I am off to try and take care of my sciatica that got worse from all the activity from the parties, but I it was a good trade off.

My shower was lovely. It was nice to see some people I haven't seen in a long time. DH had fun, and won the "chug beer out of a baby bottle" game that the men played. I'm so proud, lol
It was a pretty chill atmosphere, and we had a mexican food spread fixed on the BBQ that I don't think my stomach has gotten over yet. I'm not eating spicy stuff like that until after the baby is born (unless he is super late and I want to send him a dietary eviction notice).
The highlight for me was seeing my mom's old friend, who really wants to be there for me since my mom is passed away. She made me promise to call her as soon as I go into labor so she can head into town (she's 90 minutes away). That is such a relief, since I was thinking I wanted someone in the waiting room. If something goes wrong and DH has to follow the baby for extra care at another hospital I want someone there with me, and she is probably the only person around here that I would recruit for that task. I was very touched that she offered before I had to ask.
Anyway, it was a good time, and we received some nice presents that brought us one step closer to being "ready" for Jonah!

Sunshynbaby it sounds like you guys had a great time. I have to say a beer baby bottle contest is one thing my parties were totally missing hehe! I also think it is so sweet and wonderul that your Mom's friend wants to be there for you like that. I think that is just so awesome.
As long as you guys promise not to laugh I will post the shower pictures. Sadly we only got a few since my camera battery died. My friend took so many pictures of us being silly, but that is probably all my fault
: I am also sitting in all of them so don't look so hot. Pregnancy makes sitting "like a lady" tough
