which carrier would be best?

I have many wraps and slings but would like to invest in either an Ergo with newborn insert or a beco butterfly. This would be shared between DH and I, which of these two do you think would be more suited for both of us?

TIA
Warmly,

My DH tried on and hated the Beco - I didn't like it either. He likes the Ergo. I bought a Pikkolo though because I didn't like the Ergo infant insert and liked the way the crotch cinched down for infants/newborn.....I also bought the belt for when the baby gets heavier......I got the brown one knowing DH would be wearing it....

Dh & I both like the ergo. But we are both large people - I don't know if it would be the same if I was petite.

I have an Ergo- and honestly don't really like it. I feel like my baby (he's 2 and got it at 12mo) is HANGING off of me. I do love my Chunei though. I feel as though my kiddo is Part of me- not hanging off of me.

I'm not sure there is ONE carrier that works for both parents- maybe a mei tai with long straps. It's wise to keep your eyes open for good deals on used carriers here and at thebabywearer.com/forums as they also have great deals on slings of all kinds.

It depends on the body sizes of both you and your dh. Beco and Ergo should work for both of you but I like the Beco just because the baby can be passed between wearers without having to take the baby out of the carrier. Very useful for bathroom trips.

I recommend you finding a local babywearing group or a b&m store and try on the carrier. That's your safest bet to decipher which carrier suits both of you.

Ditto trying out the carrier. Out of Beco and Ergo, I like Olives & Applesauce. LOL. I like the Ergo better than the Beco because it is cheaper and there are no buckles and inserts, which are just annoying! You cannot adjust them easily, so switching wearers is huge pain in the rear. Ergo's just don't fit me right and dig in under my arms. So . . . they all fit different people differently. Our BabyWearing group is getting a Dream Carrier, and I can't wait to try that out!

The Ergo fits a wider range of sizes, but the infant insert combo is pretty bulky. The Beco fits a narrower range of sizes -- I find it works better for people with smaller/narrower shoulders. My dh is 6'0", about 170 with average shoulders, and he's not comfy in the Beco at all. My 5'8" BIL who's very slight loves it however!

I also think the Pikkolo is a great choice for newborns, because it's like a MT in that it's not bulky in a front carry, plus it has the adjustable base so you can do legs-out at an earlier age.

Thanks for all the replies. DH is only about 3" taller than I am, I am 5'4" and he is 5'7" ish and about 30-40 lbs heavier than I am when I am not pg. We have a local store that carries Ergos, I am not sure they have the beco, I don't remember seeing it. I guess we'll do our best to try them out, I also have to convince DH that we need another carrier
