Long time, first time

Hi MDC! I'm so nervous just typing this! I've been a long time lurker, since the late 90's or so, and this is my first post. I'm 31, single, no kids, and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am charting and otherwise getting ready to TTC as a solo mama in January 2010.

I'm looking forward to learning and sharing.

Cool! Have you been here before? There's tons to do in SF as well as the surrounding cities/areas (Marin, San Rafael, Palo Alto, and the entire East Bay area). I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have, or at least point you in the right direction!

Nope. I haven't been any further west than Colorado. Technically dh will be working in S. San Fran and we will actually be staying in Pacifica. He's headed out there on Monday already, but the kids and I are staying behind because I don't want to end up going into labor early out there. BTDT already with our last in Ohio. I haven't quite decided when we'll be headed out there yet. I guess I'll wait and see how things go.

I am guessing I shouldn't have any troubles finding the kind of food we eat out there though!

I've only recently begin traveling outside of the west coast myself :-) Pacifica is a lovely place to live, I'd imagine. It is a bit on the cool side, but the great thing about the Bay Area is it's full of micro-climates, so if you get too cool at home, you can go further south, or vice versa. I've only been to Pacifica once but it seems to be quaint.

There are many Trader Joe's and Whole Foods stores in CA. TJ's is much less expensive but Whole Foods has the most cheese I've ever seen in my life There are also farmer's markets and farms that let you pick your own fruit and vegetables.

Lastly, there's Berkeley Parents Network which has great info on all things kid. The mods are on vacation in July so the newsletters will resume in August. They have many archives as well.

You must be very excited with a new LO and moving!
