Ideas?...Snacks for the car/on the go

Thread Starter
I need ideas for nutritious snacks that are great for the car or my purse. On the go snacks. Currently we have water tins, bananas, apples, oranges and nuts w/ coconut flakes. I need some diversity with the snacks.

What is your family's favorite trail mix? What do you do for food on long commutes? I keep a small cooler in my car for the kids drink (they are picky water drinkers, it must be cold).

Thank in advance for taking the time to post ideas for us

My favorite "trail mix" lately is almonds, raisins and salt. (when at home, I mix in some butter with it.)

I'm trying to keep lara bars in my purse, because I have low blood sugar issues, and must eat right away or else I go nuts. They're expensive, but it doesn't happen too too often, because I try to eat regular. Its just for emergencies when no healthy food is around. (they're raw dried fruit and nuts only.) they're too expensive for regular (1.35 each)

for car trips, a loaf of bread and cheese is good. maybe a thing of soft goat cheese? you can spread the goat cheese like a pastry bag if you cut off a corner. or slice the cheese or chunk it before you leave. We always used to do fruit and bread type things (bread/muffins/rolls) when I was a kid. and sandwiches.

I buy Annies bunnies (mostly cheddar and cinnamon graham) for car rides. And I bought a couple of those little cups with lids that kids can stick their hands through to put them in - so that they can have a cupful, and I just have to refill it everynow and then (vs handing a handful back constantly)

we got a new car earlier this year and decided to make it a "no eating car" so we're not eating while driving anymore but i do pack a bag and we have been having frequent tailgating picnics.

we like...
hummus and carrots
cheddar crackers with almond butter
guacamole and chips/crackers (we're loving mary's gone crackers)
grapes
bananas
berries
cheese sticks (occasionally - they upset my kids' systems if we eat them too much)

we also do a few purchased bars....right now we're liking the kashi blackberry graham bars and cascadian farms granola bars.
