Thanks ladies

Well, I have a son who is due any day now basically and I have been putting off the battle of the circ. with dh for a while. I have been in no mood to fight and frankly, I figured I might just have to give him. I have two sons who are intact, but he has a son who is circ as is DH.

Well, I finally decided we HAD to have it out and I basically just sent him an email with a video that I got from one of the links here.

DH freaked out, said that must be some 3rd world country and it was beyond disgusting. I told him to actually LISTEN to the video (he had it on mute) and he said he couldn't. It was too disgusting.

He gave me a kiss, walked out, walked back in and said "that is just gross" and walked back out.

And he just came back home about 20 minutes later and said "man, you win at everything".

Ladies, sometimes just showing them what it all means is more then enough to change his mind.

THANKS for the links, it worked.

Congratulations!

I've never watched the video. I can't make myself look at it. One picture of a circ'd infant penis was almost enough to make me puke when I was pregnant with ds1. I'm sure I couldn't handle the video.

It was horrible. Still grosses me out to think about it, and the funny part is, I have worked with a cadaver and I plan on eventually going back to school in the medical profession. I am sure I would have no problems with any surgery out there, but this, it is just beyond words.

It worked though.

It is funny, I was a teen when I had my first son and while I fought with my ex about not circ. our oldest, it was just because I thought it was stupid to do anything like that to my baby. No one ever talked to me about it and while my ex was not circ. he was against leaving our son intact. That was a harder sell with him, but my husband now, one video and he is on board.

What a smart mama you are!

Now you just need to make sure both you and dh read this in order to keep ignorant doctors' hands off your baby's penis http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1050941

Oh believe me, I have already almost smacked a ped because of this. Luckily I do have two older boys (12 and 9), who are intact. I think that also helped DH with his decision, he knows all the scare tactics are BS. Never ever had a problem with either of my boys.

I don't understand why your intact ex wanted to circ?

Because he was teased as a child and didn't want that to happen to his kids. We were young, he wasn't American and felt like to be "American" you have to be circ. He finally came around and is VERY glad I forced the issue with him.

Ah ok. "Genital mutilation, as American as apple pie"? lol.

Yep, basically. He was from Italy and luckily I won.

Thank god though that my current DH, even though he is about as American as they come (well so am I) ended up agreeing with me.
