How snug should a swim diaper be?

So I just bought my approximately 24 pound 8 month old son his first swim diaper, a size large ImseVimse (20 to 26 lbs). It technically fits I guess, but it's quite snug around his chunky little thighs and barely covers his bum (he has a big bootie ).

I'm worried that there isn't enough material there to catch a big poop (it barely covers his crack). However, if I were to go up a size, and it was too loose, that would be a set up for leaks too, right? I'm not sure what to do.

I think the one you have now will probably be fine, if you are watchful. I think with a larger size you might have problems with the legs being too loose. IME though none of my babies have pooped in the pool.

Do you have any pockets? We just use those without an insert.

And to answer you question, no I don't have any pockets. I don't CD :. This is my first non-disposable diaper :. I'm working on that though. There is a nice baby shop up the street that carries some cloth diapers, and I'm thinking about taking the plunge.

I'd get the next size up. There's not much difference between the sizes and I've noticed that both my girls can wear 2 sizes: 3yo wears XL and SL (xl is a little low-rise) and 11mo with thunder thighs wears M and L (L is a slightly loose). Then you'll have 2 and he can wear them both--I'd be really surprised if the next size is too big.
