If you're on the fence re: cloth vs. disposables, read this - Page 2

Personally, I see the g diapers as the worst of both worlds. You still have to wash the covers and the disposable part is kind of a pain. You have to put them in your toilet and stir them around for a while. Then wait 15 minutes. Then stir again, and then you can flush them. So you still have to pay for the disposable liners just like you would sposie diapers, but you also have to do the laundry of cloth.

In small quantities, dioxin causes birth defects, immune system suppression, skin and liver diseases, and genetic damage in lab animals. It is banned in myst countries, but not the US. Disposable diapers contain Tributyl-tin (TBT) a toxic pollutant known to cause hormonal problems in humans and animals."

Just a couple reasons to keep those nasty chemicals away from your baby
this is pretty common news to those in the diapering boards but it is good to see it resurface time and time again.. I like the NO-Bull approach in the quote. Would you be able to tell me where you got the quote from. Is it new or from an older piece? I would be interested in reading what else they had to write. Is so, email or pm as to where would be great. Thank You!

also, they don't highlight that the G's contain some of the same nasty chemicals that are in disposables. Need to go into the site a little deeper to find that bit of info.

I know This thread started out in our Sept DDC, and I posted it in case some of our newbie moms didn't have all the correct info on sposies

I got it from a pamphlet from DiaperShops- reminds me, I need to give Kelly the credit!

The only thing my DH has a problem with is the idea of swishing the dipes in the toilet. I know there are some gadgets that help out with that, like the diaper sprayer that hooks onto the toilet, but they are kind of pricey. I think DH will end up using disposable rubber gloves, which kind of takes away from the earth friendliness of it all :

Honestly, I think my mini shower attachment was close to $25-$30 and it was worth that many times over!! I have cd'd 3 babies/toddlers and am about to do it a 4th time and won't do toddler poop without a sprayer

Really? I thought is was closer to $50. I'll definetly have to work it into the budget at some point... and hide DH's box of disposable gloves, lol!
